The Saxon is still alive and kicking as far as I know? It still works fine, saw it in full action last night on OGT
.
I very much like the Saxon. Love the sound and yeah, I think it can carry an entire squad. The only thing I don't like is the 50 cal on top which its "160 degrees view". But that's probably as it is in real life
. But besides that, it's a good vehicle

the problem with the Saxon is that now its not used in the British Army, it was discontinued and even back afew years when it was in use, was hardly used very much compared to how much the land rovers are used.
going to keep it, just not going to be much in use cos we put time and effort into it and no point in dropping it quite yet.

I have to admit that it's nice not to have your passengers taken out by an RPG exploding near you...but this is Project Reality, so if something is no longer being used in real-life, it'll be used less here too.

I like that idea. So this mod is not about early 90's techonology then like bf2 was, I didnt realise we were playing a kind of upto date type thing$kelet0r wrote:Resurrect it as the commander vehicle
saxon is dam funny on ogt, on a slope it cant carry its own weight. Drives like a beatle working on 3 cylinders, with 4 flat tyres

Yeah, I almost posted about this a couple of months back until I realised that the Devs already knew (from the visit to meet the army, I'm assuming). A mate of mine at uni was a driver in the TA, and we were chatting about the chances of us both ending up in the military doing mental health nursing (Post-Tramatic Stress Disorder being a growth industry in today's world). Got onto the subject of what he'd done last time around, and he was talking about following a Warrior in a Landie - and struggling to keep up with it, lol. Asked him if the Saxon was as much of a hefty box as it looked (they frequently drive down my road, I live close to a fairly large TA base), to which his reply was "The things just don't get used at the front line any more, too old. You still see them at home with Territorial units, but that's about it".

we have plenty of Military Advisers (with also UK_Force being stationed at Bovington Camp, ie, where the Army visit was) who keep us updated more or less instantly about any old weapons going out of service and and any new ones coming in etc and UKF espically has been nagging about us to get rid of the saxon, which we have pretty much done[R-MOD]Masaq wrote:Yeah, I almost posted about this a couple of months back until I realised that the Devs already knew (from the visit to meet the army, I'm assuming))
