memory error
I have Vista, and among the many errors I'm getting, with PR this is what I get in between maps.
memory.dll:all alloc attempts failed for size 2180269
it tells me to ignore, continue, and ok. All choices crash the game to the desktop.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

What are your computer specifications? I've been also running Windows Vista for around 9 months now and I've certainly experienced performance decrease with it. I've also encountered this issue twice, all you need to do is decrease your texture settings in PR game options to medium. I'm guessing this crash error happens when BF2 fails to dump the memory from the previous game so it causes a crash when switching to another map while running out of sufficient memory to load the content.

thanks a lot guys.
Yeah, I actually do have 2 Gigs of DDR2 ram, plus 4 more using a flash drive and Ready Boost...it actually does work, hardly any lag ever while playing.
But I'll try lowering the textures to med...(i think that's where I have them anyway, I'll check)

Try to reduce you're dynamic shadow/lighting, it help me alot.

well i run vista and i got the same problem.. when i join a game at first no problem then if the round ends and i load the new map it crashes halfway.
but i don't really care, its about 1.5 min before i can load the map again.. it really helps when you delete all the intro videos.. i also got 3.25 gig Ram while i got 4 gig in my pc..
it shows up in my bios but when i am on vista it says 3.25 ..

What I think the problem is, is the Crysis beta drivers. If you are using the beta drivers designed for Crysis, then go back to the current drivers(163.75) for your Nvidia card. My CTD basically went down to none after I did this. Of course I will have it every once in a while, but I basically eliminated it.
I tried the whole lowering your settings etc, but it didn't work. After I went to the current drivers from the Crysis beta drivers and installed some quick fixes from the Microsoft site(link was from Nvidia), I have had no trouble at all.
You can get them here.

Its on the left.
A problem I have had though is taking screenshots. For some reason, Vista didn't make a screenshot folder for BF2/PR or for Crysis, so whenever I take a screen, it doesn't save. Can anyone help me out with this?

Yeah I had a bud running on all low trying to save his overheating computer, and I told him to set terrain/texture to med... because of PRs demands..
Well that solved it of course.. though he still plays with the balcony open in the freezing cold to cool off his comp
That should be in the manual or FAQ somewhere, kinda hurts the people with cruddy computers ... * if it isn't already *

You need 64 bit operating system if you want more than 3.25Gb. 32 bit can only handle that amount.Mora wrote:well i run vista and i got the same problem.. when i join a game at first no problem then if the round ends and i load the new map it crashes halfway.

Dual core and vista 64bit, PR runs fine, apart from the odd ctd loading maps every now and again, that is fixed by turning textures to medium.
