Hostage taking
Im not really sure how this would work but i think it would be cool if insurgents could "kidnap" brits by getting close to them and knifing them or something.

Well yeah, maybe, but then that starts to take away from the whole "hold the VCP and destroy the caches" theme.
Maybe it could be a theme for a new game type? 1/3 or 1/2 or so of the Brit team start as hostages, the rest have to rescue them at which point they can join in the hunt for the rest. But I don't think it'd mesh well with cache hunting.
And I'll bet the commanders are busy enough as it is (too new to know personally!).

Hmm.. the idea with taking hostages is a bit strange.. but what about a new game mode? So lets say: You (UK, US) have to search a hostage taken by insurgents in any town (the hostage is taken since beginning, so it's not possible to 'kidnap' somebody). It's similar to the currently 'Insurgency Mode' @ Al Basrah where you have to search ammo caches but you just have to search a special hostage. The point is that you don't know where it is (town is very big) and there's only a certain time given to rescue the hostage or the hostage-takers will execute it. The hostage wouldn't have any weapons, nothing, just captived. Some insurgents (maybe a certain 'defend squad') would have to defend the hostage and be inside a building or something, the other insurgents would have to drive (MG-pickups :twisted
/go around and prevent the US/UK-Forces of finding the poor guy.
Maybe it has been already suggested. In that case: You have never read this post

Hmm... Extraction meets counterstrike? And who would want to be that hostage? And why wouldnt some noob just kill the hostage before the time limit is over?
Usualy i like hostage situation scenarios, but this is the wrong game. Army squads with thanks and attack helicopters... and then the mission is saving one hostage? There are games about police or special operations, this is about regular soldiers.

yeah isnt hostage rescue operations left to special forces detachements like Delta.
its a good idea though. would make a new game mode but the hostages should be well programmed bots instead of real people. remember that PR is still a game and no one wants to spend an hour sitting ina room with a blind fold on. lol

I had an idea for a map like this a while ago. I started mapping but my PC had a virus so Winrar wasn't letting me extract, not good. It's gone now, might start mapping again :/
While operating in Kandahar, A Reconaissance Platoon from 1st Battalion Scots Guards, B Company were surprised by a large, organized Taliban force. 6 were killed in the ensuing firefight, while 10 were captured. US Special Forces operating has supplied the army with intel stating that the prisoners have been shipped across the country to the city of Zaranj in Nimruz Province - one of 7 provinces, where Taliban have been regrouping - the prisoners are being held in a half contsructed airport, abandoned after multiple Taliban attacks, on the outskirts of the city. Taliban presense is very high and air reconasaince reports a possible Taliban training camp in the mountains.

10 of the British team would spawn in the abandoned airport, the rest will paradrop from the south east of the map. 10 insurgents will also spawn at the airport while rest will spawn in the city in a race against time to protect the airport. Once the flag is capped 2 IFVs plus 2 Landrovers will be shipped in. After that normal AAS would kick in.

Dont call it an "alternative to css", it deserves more than that
SWAT4 (and 3) are fun, but a totaly different kind of game. Oh, and the less than lethal guns are overpowered in swat4, i stopped using them. Much more realistic without.
There's even that canadian army direct action mod for SWAT4 wich seems relative realistic (for this engine)
Anyway, these are totaly different game. I love playing swat4, but its a huge difference. Slow gameplay and only in buildings, while PR is in about 4x4 km maps and (in combat) pretty fast (compared to what i do in SWAT4, mirroring doors and stuff), still SWAT4 needs not more than 15 minutes for a round while PR takes hours.
What am i talking about?
PR is not a police "simulation", but a battle "simulation", so - please no hostages.
