Italian faction

Post by Godfather »

The Italian military is currently in Iraq and not many people no this or give credit to the Italian military. I think this faction would be a great addition for version .7 I think the Italians deserve it and the clas would be similar to America because Italy has digital camoflauge and a very M-16 type of weapon. If anyone thinks this would be cool please post! If you don't belive me about the Italian military I have pictures that could help create the faction. Well, anyone?

i didnt know that but i believe you. i guess itd be too much work. sure it'll be nice to have all these factions, but i think US and UK are the main ones. maybe for the future.

if you set up a community mod team i will hapilly help you out.

other than that, what can the Italian faction offer that isn't already in the game?

something different and the acknowledgement Italy and Italian soldiers dersere.
Plus it would be realistic which is the point of the mod right? No one acknowleges Italy and now is the DEV teams chance to help!

On September 21, 2006, Italian forces handed over Dhi Qar province in southern Iraq to newly-trained Iraqi security forces, thus ending their military mission: "The Italian contingent is going back. The mission is accomplished — the security of the province is in your hands", Minister of Defence Arturo Parisi said to Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.[72] About a month earlier, on August 23, the Italian contingent stood at 1,600 troops. The 'Garibaldi Brigade' served its final four month tour of duty between May and September 2006, and included mechanized infantry, helicopters and Carabinieri in South Central Iraq, based around Nasiriyah. The original contingent consisted of about 3,200 troops, but on July 9, 2005, former PM Berlusconi announced that Italian soldiers would gradually be withdrawn in groups of 300. New Prime Minister Romano Prodi had pledged to withdraw the troops in his first speech to the senate and called the war "a grave mistake that has complicated rather than solved the problem of security".[73][74] Shortly after, on May 26, 2006, Italian foreign minister Massimo D'Alema announced that the Italian forces would be reduced from 1,800 to 1,600 by June. On June 8, he said Italy's military presence in Iraq would end before 2007.
The UK by comparison still has 4,500 troops.

wow I didn't know this, thanks for the information. where'd you get this information?
I still think an Italian faction would be cool and well, there are still some troops there.

The thing with the 'Suggestions forum' is most of the threads are about things that will not be implemented or the devs are already working on.

Would you rather have Muttra city v2 or Italian military? The devs have much more important things concerning game play than unimportant fractions, thats why the comunity has decided to make there own fractions like Canadian forces (with German tanks and trucks and m16s), Polish (with Russian based guns and polish vehicles), IDF (with Merkivas and Tavors) and Russia (with T-80s and AKMs)

PS: wikipedia.

No offense, but more factions won't add to the game play, personally I'm indifferent to the community mod factions, but alas it's not taking up any Dev time so it doesn't matter.

Adding a new faction entails a ridiculous amount of work and with all the current community factions we're already bitting off more than we can chew.

Not a bad suggestion though.

I wish people would stop asking for their own country to be put in. That's two this week, so far..

Hm...could we have Belgium please? Our army's slogan is something like "an army for peace". Hm...an entire side of "civilians", who retreat when shot at...

Belgians have wicked camouflage tho.
But about the OP topic, there are a lot of countries in Afghanistan an Iraq, even the Netherlands have like the same amount of troops in Afghanistan. And they are actually fighting. You've got to love indirect fire on predetermend points with the Pzh 2000.

if i remember correctly UK/USA/Canada are the only countries in a "combat" role in Iraq or Afghanistan meaning in a assault on a enemy positions they do it and the other countries are more support/peace keeping role.
