I know this has been posted before, but the threads were made back in 2005.
First, i dont understand why it was taken out. Isnt it realistic to know how hurt you are? I hate guessing how much damage I took from a simple fall or from a distant grenade explosion.
I read that devs were planning on adding the health bar back in the form of colors or something but that was in 2005.

... no.... just no... there are several indicators, coughing, blurry vision etc. there is no need for a "health bar " or similar thing on the HUD
Anthony Lloyd, himself a former soldier in the British army and a Northern Ireland and Gulf War veteran:
"The men inside (the APC) might have been UN but they were playing by a completely different set of rules. They were Swedes; in terms of individual intelligence, integrity and single-mindedness I was to find them among the most impressive soldiers I had ever encountered. In Vares their moment had come."

Because of the BF2 engine it is impossible to simulate a wound and to be able to tell where and how bad you got hit. Not having a health bar is also a way to simulate shell shock as you dont know if your got hit real bad and are about to bleed to death or you were just scraped and the body armor did its job. How many times have you been hit, panicked and realized that you are not hurt or bleeding out. A health bar would erase your worry of being wounded and fear of death. If you know that the hit you took did nothing to the bar by checking instantly how your health is then you wouldnt really worry about dying till the bar was low. How realistic would that be huh?

ok for the shell shock part and not knowing how bad your injury is. i think in every case in real life, you would check your body to see how bad it is. (look down at your leg and see if its scratched) which could be the same thing as looking at the health bar.
and for hte last part of your paragraph...you'd still worry about dying/getting wounded. in PR, bullets do a ton of damage, so even with full health, you could be dead after a couple of hits. i dont see why you wouldnt worry.
i mainly wnat the health bar back (could be less subtle) mainly for hte small injuries. like hopping out of a moving car. slipping down a hill. jumping out of a helicopter..etc. the small stuff where you dont know if you should see a medic where in RL you would def know

so when was the last time you twisted your ankle and has a bar tell you youve lost 2 percent health? The injury effects are realistic and the devs seem to fiddle it a lil every release. you can get shot in the chest and not even notice, just feel short of breath, shock is a very funny thing.
Maybe tunnel vision that gets worse as you die, one thing is for sure that with blood loss you feel light headed, the blurry vision and such gives that feel but addin a bit of tunnel to that would give a good effect methinks
I love it when you get shot at and youve got that nervous feeling of woooaaa! did he shoot me? then you stand up and you may be bleeding from a small cut where he scraped body armour, and youll bleed for ages. Other times I've stood up from the fight and coughed and gone completely blurry straight away, awesome effect
Like I stand up and realise I'm lungshot or summin
the staggering around for a medic afterwards is very unexpected and nerve racking.
Health Bar No No.
