I'd suggest your first port of call is adding a second gig of RAM, pronto. PR just won't cope on a single gig thesedays - RAM is nice and cheap thesedays, getting a second gig in there won't set you back that much.

That should be able to run it on low. I have the same setup except a Geforce 5950 FX card and only 3Ghz.

I've got a 6800 aswell, right now i run PR on all high x4 AA with no lagg. I upgraded to 2 gigs of RAM a while ago and it stopped lagg completely. When i had 1 gig, i had some nast startup lagg when i just loaded a map.

So i would recomend on buying 2 gigs :) RAM is dirt cheap now anyways

When PR stops working on 1 gig of RAM we'll need to scale back graphics.

Current Setup:
1 Gig RAM (Recently upgraded)
GeForce 5200x (I dont want to talk about it...)
P4 2.83 GHz CPU

I'm running Vista with 2 gigs of ram, dual core AMD 5000+ (approx 2.6 ghz I believe), using integrated graphics. Running low, full view distance, no noticeable lag. Sometimes interesting renders, especially in some other mods.

Make sure you're not running stuff in the background, if you're running XP you should be able to run PR decently on 1 gig of ram.

Current Setup:
512 Mb RAM
Radeon 9550 Pro
P4 3.06 GHz

PR runs okay with a bit of lag and occasional 10 second pause

Guys, RAM is some 30$ for 2GB (2x1GB Sticks) PC-6400 RAM. Save up a little, this game engine is over 2 years old. Shouldn't be too much of a problem. Besides, the holidays are coming up. Who knows what Santa is going to bring, eh?

I have a Quad core Extreme, 4 gigs of PC2 - 6400 RAM and an 8800gt, should I be able to run PR on decent settings?

why waste the money on an extreme nubbins

just get the Q6700 like me and Overclock !!!! mines running @ 3.05 GHz with no problems whith more room to overclock if needed.

and the best thing is i've saved £300 quid more than you doing so :P

In a word Nick: work.

@ jedi: if you can't run everything maxed there's something wrong with your comp.
