Ok, quick Q's for people that play/have played PR.
I live in Australia, I see there are 3 or so Australian servers although they are fairly sparsely populated (at time of writing I think only one of them had people on and there was only 8 or so of them) - does PR need a full server to be enjoyed like vBF2?
Is the combat in the game dominated by vehicles? (planes, tanks). I also downloaded FH2 and was annoyed by the fact that it had as much vehicle dominance as vBF2.
Is PR as steep on the computer as FH2? (for anyone thats played FH2). On FH2 i could play most maps fine, but on some of the large maps and some of the maps with lots of buildings I got some bad lag (I run vBF2 without any problems, all settings are on low though but that doesn't bother me).
Yep thats pretty much it
Want to play PR - Few Q's (yeh, iv read all the info first)

1.
Usually pr doesn't need a full server. However the experience is a lot better when the server is full. (or very close to being full) Also there are some maps which are just plain boring without 30+ players. Though this shouldn't stop you from getting the mod. I'm sure there will be days when you can find australian servers that have enough players.
2. Well, it depends. This mod has a lot of realism so you must understand that vehicles are extremely powerfull. Tanks, helicopters and jets will destroy anyone and anything if used correctly. But it's nothing to worry about. There aren't that many vehicles and they have very very long spawn times. For example the helicopters in Kashan desert have something like 20 minutes. So once you manage to destroy and enemy helicopter in that map you know you won't be seeing it again soon.
Overall it's really well balanced. And you need teamwork to be effective with tanks & helicopters so if one manages to dominate the enemy team with a vehicle then it's well deserved.
3. Haven't played FH2, but pr needs a lot more power than vBF2 does. But give it a try, it's the only way to know for sure.

It is the soldier, not the priest, who protects freedom of religion; the soldier, not the journalist, who protects freedom of speech.

first of all welcome to the forum and PR.
ok heres my answers to your questions, others might tend to disagree, but here it goes
1. PR is based on team play and also there are a lot of tactics which need more than a squad(of 6 ppl) to be carried out therefore IMO the more players on a server the better and more challenging the game is going to be. also to do certain things (setting up RP, requesting kits) you need more than 3 ppl in each squad.
2. it depends on the maps. some maps are more of a infantry type and some are field with vehicles. for example, zatars wetlands(vbf2 map with PR settings) is a tank based map and there are 7-8 tanks on each side(which still need to be used properly, and with teamwork otherwise they would be useless). Moreover, there are infantry based maps like OGT which i think has 1 APC and helicopter on each side. still lets not forget that the spawn time for vehicles are much longer in PR .
3. well to be honest with less than 1 gb of RAM you would have a hard time playing PR. cause there are a lot of things that could cause lag for example maps with a lot of trees are really lagy(if you have less than 1gb of RAM). so yeah, you would find out by simply playing on different maps.
so yup, that’s basically it.
hope to see you out there

G'Day mate. I am an admin on the GSA - BigD servers. The BigD community is basically the PR community of Australia, we have run PR servers for over a year now, and our community has only got bigger. Night times are when our servers fill up the most, and right now at 5:37pm there are 23 people playing on the large maps server. Give it another 2 hours and there will be probably around 40 or so. When 0.7 comes out, as with previous versions of PR, our community will most probably double or triple again, and the servers will be full.
There are very powerful vehicles in PR, however there is always a way to take one out, provided you are working as a squad. But as others have said, there are long spawn times on vehicles unlike FH2, so not so bad. Of course, if you are very anti-vehicle, our small maps server runs 16p maps which have no vehicles, and offers great teamplay with squad vs squad battles.
It is recommended that players have 2GB of ram in PR, as large maps tend to strain peoples computers, but lots of players play just fine with 1GB of ram.
Anyway, if you are keen on PR, and want to play with like minded people who work as a team, http://www.bigdgaming.net is the PR community in Australia. Hope to see you there.

Although xfire only currently allows 3x groups right now, for people in australia, japan, etc I'd highly recommend you guys all create and join an xfire clan for your ping region for easy knowing who's online and of course making and keeping friends over time.

[R-MOD]Mongolian Dude: AH man, sarcasm is so hard to get across the web, even if we are both british
[R-DEV]Jaymz: That has to be...the most epic response to a welcome thread I have ever seen. [R-CON]Mr.D ladies and gentlemen!
