didn't think this was appropriate for tactics forum because its not infantry tactics because you want to use them in a squad of ur own not armor - thought its counter armor tatcis, but feel free to move it to a tactics thread if you wish.


The TOW hummvee is not a f**king taxi!!!!!

right, not thats out of the way, back on topic.

the TOW hummve is amazing bit of kit for AT but seems to be used as a taxi, only to be ditched or blown up. for e.g:

i was on EU myxo about 15 mins ago, map was qwai river, decided ill start using the TOW hummer for a bit of AT pwnage. spawned at main base, no hummves. fair enough round had be going for 5 mins so they all get used as taxis at the start of the round ill wait for 1 to spawn, so i waited a bit and 1 spawned. then a guy runs and takes it, (fair enough it dose not have my name on it) i then pulled up in front of him with the repair/ammo hummer and say in caps "dont use TOW hummer use the 50.cal hummer for transport" but this guy decides he will waste one of the best AT assets for USA of that level. i follow him on caps lock map and sure enough he ditches it when he gets with his squad, why didn't he spawn on the SL or other spawn points in the field ? (APC,bunker). another brilliant example is i was outsite of the gov office, there was a APC spotted so i start turning around, a guys shoots the hummer wanting a lift, i stop he gets in. i drive up and turn around waiting for the APC, he gets out and i get on TOW...... bad mistake..... he gets in hummer drives towards!! the APC , i fire and the second i fire he turns sending the TOW off target and getting us both killed.

a good round i did have was on TG i think, we had 2 TOW hummers and the repair/ammo truck (i wouldnt do this on a map with tanks, as they need it) and we was defending estate killing heli's, APC's, tanks ect. was pwnage... thats how u use the TOW hummer, not as a TAXI!!!

thanks if you read all that, if not.... well who cares ? i would be to lazy to read it to :D to summerise if u didnt;
TOW hummve > TANK
TOW hummve > APC
TOW hummve is NOT a taxi, use the 50.cal one.

Indeed, they're always my priority targets on Qwai when tanking :D

also, TG doesn't allow H-AT sniping yea? but what about TOW hummve sniping of infantry ?

I used the TOW launcher against lone wolf PLA riflemen before on TG, can't be arsed for some wank to snipe me with his uber QBZ.

Yeah, the TOW Hummer is an awesome bit of kit that I'll jump into straight away and then promptly hide on the West side of the river on Qwai OR..... destroy ASAP, as per Bosco,
because it's such a sod of an asset to go up against.

One of my favourite things to do on Qwai is to team up a H/AT and the TOW hummer. Pretty much kills everything in it's path.

Yeah thats my biggest pet peeve when someone "hijacks" your vehicle with you or your squad...

Ask some of the regulars like mongol or spacecadett they use them all the time on anti armor missions ;)

Its a wonderful tool, you run out with a second person - and possibly an engy to blow bridges / sneak on stupid armor...

Shoot your tows, or camp a road near PLA intersections.... then head back to base reload of the almost always never used repair truck and repeat!

And if I'm tanking or in an APC on Qwai that thing is priority #1, also I remember reading somewhere from leaked info that TOWs are getting a longer arming time and doing more damage :D

in ways its better than tank i ways quicker respawn time (i think); quicker, TOW pwns, can fit 5 of ya (or 6?)

still trying to perfect the "TOW hummer" squad tactics, just had around with HX boffie(sry cant spell ya name) we did good at the start, blowing up 5 armor assets, i think 2 APC's and 3 tanks. but then got pwned up a bit. so need to work at it, maybe more ambush and less actively going after tanks, try predict where they will go to and go there and set up, got caught out in the open a few times which you just buggered.

that sounds good !! ill have to try that;

perfect "TOW hummve" squad:

squad leader - engineer - driver
Squad member - medic - TOW gunner
squad member - H-AT - uber pwner of tanks.

can get ammo from the hummve itself for the H-AT.

maybe this should be moved to a tactics thread, but which 1? its not infantry or armor ...

yeah bjoffe is how you spell his name :P

I think it respawns faster than tanks as well, though I may be wrong. Ambushing seems to be the way to go with the TOW ... rhyming...

Trust me I have had my fair shares of "oh **** he sees me" moments and screaming "HALT" to the driver or.... getting yelled at to stop lol, its a fun tool when used right like most assets

Though I don't see anything wrong with it if a squad takes it for transport AS LONG AS ONE PERSON USES IT FOR THE TOW! Which is how the striketeam guys from the states do it, never abandon the TOW! :D

We had a squad today, with 2 TOW humvees active and me in a support truck. Needless to say we obliterated everything until others tried to interfere, nicking our vehicles.

Some TOW humvees would be nice on Kashan, but then the US would have a slight advantange (assuming that it is used correctly as stated above rather than a taxi to the Bunkers).

I totally agree. Although the H-AT pwnage will be reduced with .7 and no ammo from humvees.
Anyhow, you make an excellent point - its a very powerful anti-armor asset, but its much better suited to clan/tournament play than pubbing. Still, grab a friend and kick some butt.
I'll try it out the next time I'm playing qwai.

When I'm USMC on Qwai I usually make a Tow Ops squad. Helps if you're with someone you've played with before, we both go engy and tear any armour or Nanjings up.

I agree. It is totally underused, but I like it, it means you can usually get one available :)

I like the TOW HMMWV, I requested that one or 2 be put on Kashan Desert but the devs locked it. :cry:

They don't have enough zoom for Kashan.

If TOW damage get increased, then they should remove the LB with side rockets, because then there's too much assets than can kill a tank. Or add another tank?

Plus, the LB usually ruins any infantry tactics whatsoever on PLA side, as you get blasted out by lazer AT4s.

LB with side rockets can kill tanks? I know they do a significant amount of damage to LAVs and the light vehicles, but tanks?
