Im not a pilot or anything, but this does sound like a preety decent idea

Pilots only where their masks in once they are in combat or at extremely high altitudes...

Not realistic, would require a ton of work, and frankly the point isnt to discourage noobs from flying. All good pilots were bad at one point. Except for maybe Resjah...

Doesnt sound bad, could be interesting. No idea how realistic it is, or how much work to code or even if its impossible :/

Iam going to be on vipers side for this 1. besides for the ton of work every plan has a 30 sec. warmup time so why make it 15 secs? if this ever would happen make it once you take off.

At some point you have to cut the noobies some slack. We talk a butt load about making things noob proof and discouraging noobs, but this just seems unnecessary. If they get in and try and taxi off the plane is gonna explode. Adding this would be probably quite demanding of the devs time and not very useful.

Exactly, sounds cool but irl you arent going to pass out in under minute inside a plane on the ground.
I like it if it can be implemented in a more realistic way but we all know that the BF2 engine probably cant hack it.
the view restriction idea is cool but the whole "press this key not to die" thing just seems like a daft way to try an stop other folk touching the planes.

i dont get this idea the oxygen mask is only for high altitude flying pilots dont wear it on the ground usually.

also if youre in a plane on the ground you wont pass out from lack of oxygen...
why make the game unrealistic to screw with noobs?

In real life you wear a helmet, but you have freaking eyes and a greater field of view

AND CAN MOVE YOUR HEAD

Unlike the clunkyness of trying to LOOK TO YOUR LEFT AND RIGHT with bf2, I think its fine the way it is - its hard enough to physically SEE out of the planes as it is

Though if you think about it in reality the greatest resolution is in the center of your view, and if you had a moveable head ... like you do, you would look around not using your peripheral vision on the sides of what you can see, like were forced to do in BF2 without a dang helmet ... so

Its one of those choices where gameplay > realism for engine reasons IMO
If it gets changed ill be angry and ill complain a lot :P
