Hi all,
I know there is another thread started about "graphic settings" but this is somewhat different I think.
I've seen lots of posts and threads about graphic settings and such, but there's one thing I haven't seen much of. And that's screen resolution. It seems to me that most of the time when players talk about "graphic settings they tend to leave out what screen resolution they are currently playing at. What are most of you guys playing at?
Right now I'm playing PR at 1600x1200 @ 85Hz on a CRT, but I'm thinking about getting an LCD panel and trying that out.
What do you guys think? You think I should stick with CRT or make the leap to LCD? If I should leap to LCD what sort of native resolution do you guys think would be best to seek out? What screen resolutions do you all run at?
Right now I'm running an Ati 1950 Pro 256MB AGP video card on a Compaq 1100 21-inch CRT monitor. Which is on its last leg. I've got 2 GB of system memory on an Athlon 64 3400 2.4Ghz. With an X-Fi gamer sound card, and a Raptor hard drive.
I'm wondering if it would be smarter to run the game at a lower resolution and turn up some of the graphic settings in game or just go for the uber screen resolution? At least when I'm running at 1600x1200 I don't have to turn on Antialiasing because the jaggies are almost nonexistent.
R
I've got a question about screen resolutions?

Well hey man I have a big 22 inch widescreen ViewSonic monitor from Costco (280$) and I LOVE IT. It's just cool having the widescreen and I dont notice it one bit that its not True Widescreen in PR. I had a excellent CRT flatscreen (not an LCD) and it just wasn't the same as this. My custom resolution is 1680 x 1050, there are websites that show you how to edit your shortcut so you can run at the LCD's native widescreen resolution in BF2/PR.

Roger that...
Now all I have done is the editing of the shortcut parameters to include widescreen +1680 +1050 something like that...its in the article, definitely read it.
"C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +widescreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050
They talk about editing the defaultvideo.con which I haven't had a chance to play with but looks awesome if it'll truely work in getting it to TRUE widescreen. Still mine, without the FOV edit, looks and plays fantastic.

I personally am going to forgo the lame shortcut edit above (its not truewide screen and can actually limit your screen view) and go with the widescreen fixer below. Make sure to use version 1.32 iirc.
This looks great!! Real widescreen and no punk buster problems! SICKhttp://http://imk.cx/pc/widescreenfixer/

Check out the screenshot down there. Just using the widescreen shortcut removes some of the screen on the top and bottom iirc. The Widescreen fixer increases the FOV option to 1.1 I think and gives true widescreen. You won't see much of a change but you should get additional real estate on the edges you 24" lucky sob'[T wrote:MLPatriot;561439']I have a Dell 24incher with a native res of 1920x1200. I play PR at that same resolution using the desktop shortcut properties command and its works great. I tried that widescreen fixer a while back and didnt see any difference. playing pr on a 24 inch screen is alot of fun.
Check out the link for that webpage and scroll down to the screenshots. Pretty good looking, but I haven't done it myself yet.
