Smaller Map Grid
Didn't find anything to this extent in search and don't remember it being suggested so here goes.
Is there any way we can get a smaller map grid since the minimap is gone. I've always thought they were too big and hoped for a long time PR would make them smaller but it hasn't I just think that it should be a lot smaller so we can be more precise with requests, spots, and targets. Everyone remembers 0.5 Basrah right....... "Need a attack run at D7!" A-10 comes in and strafes the friendly troops in the same quarter mile grid.
It might be a personal opinion of mine but I think it would make a lot of things better and easier and might reduce the amount of teamkills.

Well what we do is use your numpad keys as an extra description,
ie "enemy tank - Grid ref D7 numpad 3" indicating the tank is in the lower right (SE) of D7.
and another example:
"enemy squad in C6 numpad 7" indicating an enemy squad is in the upper left (NW) of C6.
Works very well.
I hereby give you permission to use this system

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes.
A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production.
Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Not a bad idea.
Only problem is letting everyone know this system so you don't have to describe it to the pilot while an enemy squad pins you down. lol

Yes but they still cover huge areas, they can go smaller.ZaZZo wrote:IIRC there are always the same amount of grids on a map.
They are only different from different map sizes.
So the grids you have on Basra are smaller than those on Kashan fro example, and those on Street are even smaller.

Yeah, we could use smaller grids.
The worst situation is on Kashan.
Rally on F6.
it's 4x4 km map - 4km = 4000m /10 grids = 400m
That means you've got square of size 400x400 meters where it may be. Not really precise.
Well, usually I use words left, right, center, top and bottom to specify a bit - ie. Rally in lower-left of F6.
Well, I don't think this is much of an issue now though. As Rhino said, we'll have the CAS markers in 0.7 and according to 0.7 changelog even possibility to spot a rallypoints, firebases, bunkers and command posts.

Thats where the numpad-thing comes in handy.Deadfast wrote:Yeah, we could use smaller grids.

Rally on F6-3.
Thats only 45x45 meters, you know? Pretty precise.

It's 133,3 x 133,3 (400/3 not 400/9)
Did you read my whole post BTW ?
I wrote about the method I'm using. It's basically the same as your, but I'm just using directions instead of numbers (which is more understandable to regular pubbers).
