Is this fix anything different to me changing my shortcut to load in my resolution (22", 1680x1050) or can I just leave it as it is?

Its WAY different than changing your shortcut. Your shortcut doesn't really give you any increase in your feild of view. It either stretches your current one, or chops off a little of the top and a little of the bottom and puts it in there. This fix actually increases the amount of game on your screen to fit into widescreen. You should see other work they've done where they've increased it to include 3 (count'em 3) monitors. It doesn't really work well with BF2 though, but looks AWESOME in the pilot views from the screenies I've seen. It works with a triple-head monitor adjustment and works over your video card.

Fair point!

Easy enough to install?

Razick wrote:Keep this a secret but you can use scoped weapons really well in CQB with this trick. You gotta bring the sights up then you toggle the fix. When the fix is activated the sights zoom will go back to 1x, like you were looking out normally. Used to use it all the time because the USMC rifleman M16 was absolutely useless in CQB.
Lets hope the devs fix this for PR, because this sounds not quite what was intended with the kit.

Thanks for pointing that out.

Razick wrote:Dont forget to activated the fix by using its hot key. Sometimes the auto activation doesnt work with some folks so toggle it. Hotkeys are: Numpad * (v1.00 to v1.06), Right Control (v1.10), or ; (Semi-Colon) (v1.10.1 to v1.39.6). For proper screen ratios first find you screen natural resolution then match your ratio to resolution

* 640x480 = 4:3
* 720x480 = 15:10
* 720x576 = 5:4
* 800x600 = 4:3
* 848x480 = 16:9
* 960x600 = 16:10
* 1024x768 = 4:3
* 1152x864 = 4:3
* 1280x720 = 16:9
* 1280x768 = 15:9
* 1280x800 = 16:10
* 1280x960 = 4:3
* 1280x1024 = 5:4
* 1360x768 = 16:9
* 1440x900 = 16:10
* 1680x1050 = 16:10
* 1920x1080 = 16:9
* 1920x1200 = 16:10

If you have any other problems PM me.

Trying this now.

----

Awesome, it really does work without any side-effects, so far, it seems!

The only real side effect is a loss of depth when changing to a wider FOV.

which isnt really a loss of depth since the screen area is bigger.
im using this with a 24" monitor at 1920 x 1200 16:10 and i dont notice any loss of depth when ive applied the fix :P

I've always played PR on 1024*768 on my laptop 17" wide, in the last month i just tried to test it at the higher 1440*900 with the +szx 1440 +szy 900 trick, fortunally it works good :) i thought i would have had problems...

Well: the "binocular mask" does not work properly, also the view inside light vehicles, but hope this will be fixed in v0.7

Ah yes...a few details like that might need some adjustment on the PR side of things. Oh well, thats the price we pay for the true widescreen :) .

Well I'm sorry, unless your monitor suddenly changes size(or if you run in a window and change the size), then there will be a loss of depth when changing from a small FOV to a larger one. Look at a screenshot of the two(of your own making) or look at the ones I've posted below. Notice how things look smaller but there are more things to look at with the fix enabled? That's your loss of depth (or magnification if you prefer) resulting from the larger FOV. :fryingpan

Could anyone with a 19' monitor post some screens with their results?

I've tried and I can't decide, if its good or bad.
It depends on the map. For close combat it's probably better with a bigger FOW, but not for long range fights.

got black screen, just my weapon and arms showed up. The lag was soooo bad like i was running it on a Commodore 64. The lag even cut into my audio. and i was on the spawn screen.
xp pro ,samsung 226bw, ati 1600 pro, 3 gb ram, 3ghz pentium 4, sb x-fi fata1ty pro. i got scared and uninstalled everything and restored my pc to a week earlier.
did i have to update the widescreen fixer? used v1.32.and i cut and pasted the shortcut 1680 by 1050 from the forum.

v1.32 is a faulty version it has similar effects with other people. Download 1.39.5 it has the highest compatibility of all the versions so far. Also the most important thing is to know what your screens TRUE resolution is, not what you use. You must check the actual monitor settings and figure it out because you will have heavy depth loss or minimal FOV if you dont.
