Again, don't blame the system if you don't know how to use it. Learn how to use a torrent, it's not 1996 anymore.

"I'm not downloading from a German site", or "DEVs, you totally fucked up the release" are some of the comments I've read tonight, and I just can't stop thinking maybe it really is better that some people never get to play PR. Get a clue, and don't blame the DEVs, who have just delivered the best PR version ever, for your inability or unwillingness to use a common download technique (torrent).

Some ppl are just selfish tards..., no point in even trying to help them out as they know it all anyway. I wouldnt waste your time even trying to explain ante.

Yes, Torrents CAN be fast, but can also be slow even if you know how to use them. It also depends on where you're situated in the world. For example, fludblud and I are in Hong Kong right now, which is far further from the servers than most of you guys. Hong Kong as a whole has very thin international lines and relatively low bandwidth compared to most of Europe and the US so a lot of the data coming through is very slow. Torrents for some reason don't work particularly well here either, and my theory is that the P2P traffic is prioritised slightly by your location, and because most of the P2P users are in Europe/US, their upload speeds to places such as HK is pretty low (again also due to the regional/country bandwidth).
I have every single port open and forwarded to my computer (stupid thing to do I know) but I still get about 40kb/s max on the PR torrent. Nevertheless, that's what I've been using because the other servers weren't exactly great either. It's not like this ALL the time, so you can't say that I'll always get slow speeds. I can download files off huge servers such as microsoft at about 1.5mb/s.
When I'm in the UK, my torrent d/l speeds often reach at least 200kb/s, so I'm just saying, even if you know how to use torrents correctly, you may prefer to use a direct download because torrents in your part of the world may be slow
Just my 2 cents.
Oh yes, and Happy new year to you all
I had my new year 11 hours ago. GMT+8 biatches!
Btw can anyone confirm that the US Drunet server is hosting corrupted files? I've heard that a lot and I was getting about 400kb/s off it, even through the server kept getting overloaded and cut out. Even still, I didn't want to risk it so I used one of the German servers and the torrent.

1. this is gen descuison, not the tech area.
2. yes when thousands of people know something is gunna be downloadable, they all wait, and then flood the DLserver, thus the repeat drops, so i knew this was gunna happen, this is the only time i use torrent....and for the other people, notice only 1 usa DL and all the others are in the eastern hemisphere...
3. drunet isn't corrupt, it is called a connection fart(where i come from
), your computer then thinks it's done, does the temp file to physical file too ealry, tooo many people DLing it at one time... i bet you try it at 5 am, you'll get all 1.11gig in mins....(well i would)

Well I was just explaining to folks why you wouldnt always want to use torrents seeing that there seemed to be a bit of arguing. Might seem pointless starting a thread in Tech discussion to explain it, and then linking it from here. Afterall, it IS relevant to this thread.MaddLagger wrote:1. this is gen descuison, not the tech area.

I was using the firefox DownloadThemAll add-on so I should've been able to get the whole file from Drunet as I can just resume the download after it gets cut out. So peoples' 'corrupt' files were in fact just incomplete downloads? I was under the impression that they were actually corrupt. Damn. I was probably better off using Drunet in the end then. Oh well, I have the files now so no complaints from me.
