Transport Squads a MUST now
Okay, in v.6, taxi helo squads or APC squads were more or less a gimick. Not really needed since anyone in the squad could do it, and since you only needed to pick up one person (the squad leader), anyone could just spawn on the squad leader once he was getting transported.
But now that you can't spawn on the trucks or the SLs or even the APCs, now all those transports MUST move back and forth, taking all stradlers to their desigated SLs or to the front, and once their dropped off, the vehicles retreat back until they are needed again (unless its an APC that can attack as well)
I say each game must have one Transport Squad where ALL THEY DO, is just transport people by whatever vehicle is available, APCs, Trucks, Vodniks, HMVEES, or choppers, because if regular squad members use the vehicles and the squad is defeated (RP is destroyed) the vehicle is stuck where it was last used.
I think this is what the Devs want us to be doing.

Did you know that the game reward points for successful delivery of the package?
Did that on Kashan once. Flew a blackhawk around mostly in a solo squad in direct contact with the commander, just inserting squad and supplies into battle. Ended with the team winning, and third on the scoreboard. It was really enjoyable game. At the time everyone was afraid of flying choppers that dropped like a rock.

Yhea, that blackhawk is a bit unbalanced compared to the mec transport chopper. That night I was playing, it took a near miss from a stinger and the accompanying AA shells, and I was still flying and able to make it back to base in one piece. At some point I grabbed the LB to do some recon, and I bought the opposing transport chopper down, with a 5 sec or so burst.

Funny how being a transport guy can really be fun isnt it? The best game of PR I ever played was on Jabal and I was the CO. The only reason it was remotely cool was because of 1 transport guy doing a HELL of a job on the blackhawk. He picked up pinned squads instead of them being doomed to a 10 minute retreat or the carrier. Our entire team was rallied together and won easily. It's definitely a must now. Removing the SL and APC/truck spawn is fantastic and removes soooo much of the spammy arcade play. Now when you kill a guy its a pretty big deal at times...you wont see him popup from 5 different angles for the zerg rush. Also, in 0.6 a LOT of idiots completely ignored rally points...now those guys are MUCH more motivated to dropping one and thus greatly improving teamwork and gameplay in general. Now everyone has a rally down, its great...plus there's a kind of psuedo battleline that is made. Having mobile spawns everywhere just screwed that very realistic part of a fight.

They did a great job! I love the new spawns. Gives the game a bigger realism and just think about Muttrah v2 in .8 (hope they will include it then xD) where everybody has to respawn on the carrier... the only thing I can say is IRENE!!!!
That will be awesome! I love transporting!!
Would be perfect if the DEVs could release a Muttra-patch after finishing Muttrah v2

Just get a bot or computer program to drive that what id like to see, then a warrior is not wasted driving round fairing troops around with a truck, it could be done just like paint a line on the map where you want the trunk to go and it will follow the it when you reach to getting off stop, hit return button and it drives back to base. And It may be impossible due to it’s hard coded but may be not.
And no definite having a program to fly a chopper is impossible, just look a them flying in BFvietnam
that was funny SH*T Lol.

I was doing this last night on Kashan with the Blackhawk. Was fun as hell but I kept getting called into LZs that were "secure" as the players put it and when i went to land I get a lock tone and die. Was pretty fun though, but it was somewhat hard without VOIP to the players I was transporting, but the other squad leaders seemed to appreciate it and I got quite a high score.
Note for everyone: If you're in a tank and you say "There's enemy AA at <such and such>" and you don't kill it don't expect my sympathy. There was a tank that kept spotting an enemy AA at bunkers but NEVER killed it. The MEC AA was just kinda driving around unchallenged.

Well when he says "The AA is dead, you're safe to drop them there now." and then he says "Another AA is there" right as you go to land and when it shoots you down he says "Oh ****, sorry, I was typing." I get a bit frustrated.DenniZ-NL wrote:Well at least he did warn you about them!

VIDEO SETTINGS for great framerate AND quality view
http://www.aphnetworks.com/forums/index ... e=threaded
Look at this thread for optimizing frame rate. I followed it exactly and fly helo with 60-78 fps, smooth as silk, AND the picture/scenery looks great. Just found it today too. I used FRAPS to measure frame rate in this and any other games(free version) I'm using an 8500GT, a modest entry level card.
Try the exact settings he shows, you will be happy you did.

I have a question: do vehicles or helicopters see when infantry says, "Requesting Pickup", or do you have to be near to hear it? I know it doesn't appear in text.
"Bad area round 'ere boy,
a lotta bad types,
a lotta mean people...
