Shouldn't aircraft be parked until deployed?

Post by BeerHunter »

Was thinking that for that added touch of realism shouldn't aircraft be parked until deployed by the commander?

Commander should order an air strike on a specific target or to patrol an area , not have pilots running off all over the place on milk runs then being out of the area or ordnance when needed.

After all, you're looking at severe disciplinary action if you decide to hop in a fighter just to take it up for joy ride.

Would be kinda nice if the Commander had the rights to revoke a kit from a player rendering a hot dog pilot to a ground thumper , but then its only a game and maybe that would be taking things a wee bit too far.

And since I spent the better part of my reservists career driving transport trucks , that’s what I wanna be. When you saw where we had to drive those damn things and hoped to hell the baling wire and duct tape held up,it sure wasn't boring.

Yes, a wee bit ;)

Could be a possible thing to do later, you know. This is not, however, a good thing to do in the pubs i think.

Maybe if it was easy to do it could be implemented in a Tournament setting.

;)

Shouldn't be that hard for a commander in the PR tournament to ground the jets until needed, though I'm not sure whether it would be efficient.

+1

I think that doing this in normal game could have some issues with smacktard comms.

you cant control any one person from doing what he/she wants on a public server adding more controls to stop this would be a waste of time, as playing in a tournament / organized match it'd happen correctly anyway

designating total control over everything is a bad idea imo, one bad CO (a trouble maker for everyone) and the server is ruined

its the players fault for being a moron not the mod.

Well you see theres this problem with BF2 that I've noticed:

1. Most commanders are idiots.

2. Giving that kind of power to one player in what effectively is a Kindergarten class brings back fond memories of "hall monitors" from my childhood.

As the old saying goes, you can't mod the players.

The threat of rapid anti aircraft fire related death should keep pilots out of trouble spots and on station to provide support, as should their own sense of fighting as a team. If they don't, they'll get shot to pieces by the enemy and moaned at by their team, so they'll either learn or leave.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

...Or they'll just keep doing it and laughing about it :(
