Laser-Target

Post by Mora »

okey, now i have spent some time in the attack choppers as a gunner, and i came to the conclusion thats is too hard to hit a tank/apc or any other vehicle with the the target-lock projectile (especially when moving) so i thought why not make them lock them selfs to a tank/apc no lock-time just aim and shoot the laser-target projectile and it will go straight to the tank/apc then get a lock with the laser-target missile and shoot.

much faster and easier

what do you think good idea?

It would make the game to unfair... but thats just me

HangMan: BF2 Editor, it has very strict limitations memory wise, and crashes all the time. Its like a girl. Treat it with respect and take it slow and you'll get places. Rush and get ahead of yourself and it will turn around and punch you in the mouth

I think that was a technical issue. The laser target mode is not really intended for being used by the helicopter alone. The two primary intended employments are:

1. Infantry designates a target with the SOFLAM and the helicopter simply locks onto it and shoots.

2. The helicopter designates an area target where a jet should drop a bomb.

If you're having problems with the laser mode, switch to the other guidance mode.

... when switching to laser-guided mode you have the same problem  its hard to aim when moving you almost need 5 missiles before you get him.. and laser target mode takes time unless inf makes a marker.

and about balance.. its not overpowered, when we had the old tv guided system
we also shot all tanks, choppers are designed to destroy tanks now they need about 5 missiles before they hit a tank.. unrealistic?

choppers need to be fast (in and out) get a lock shoot get away.
right now you need to hover for about 5 sec or more that gives the tank enough time to get his tank shell right at your nose..

atleast make the lockon projectile faster its way to slow! when i saw the new system in the dev journal threat i thought there will be no travel time for the lockon projectile why does it need it anyway? hover for 1 sec or aim for 1 sec and place the marker. i dont understand why you guys make it so hard for the chopper lovers

i begin to belief the devs dont like it..

The gunner i use dosent take 5 shots to hit anything regardless if we are moving or not, just a little suggestion to practice, practice, practice before blaming the game.

Yeah when i got nick flying i almost never need more then 1 rocket.

choppers need to be fast (in and out) get a lock shoot get away.

Hide behind a hill get up quick find your target kill the target and drop again. It dosen't take more then 5 sec and the tank does almost never see you. Just make sure you change position after you shot your rocket(s).

Any other good chopper/gunner tips? What method are you killing tanks with...what range/tactics? Are you lasing the target yourself, locking on and firing...or using the fly by wire shot. Moving tanks?

Get a Spec op in your squad and use VoIP (Very VERY IMPORTANT). AS long is the Spec Op knows how to target and knows how to tell you where to approach from, You can't miss.
