Yes maps looking like that would be better for tactical purposes.tonnie15 wrote:i think that the whole map idea should be changed so that you cant see empty cars, tanks, apc ect... or friendlys or anything really it should be just a normal map of the area with maybe things like objectives on it... as for having the gps showing wile playing is a big no... I dont know about you but when i was serving in afganstian we wernt shooting at the enemy and looking at the gps at the same time... also there is only one gps per section (NAV-Guy)...
Anyway i think the maps should look more like this...
Or this

I definitely think that the system should stay as it is. It forces teamwork and coordination on a gameplay level, and increases reality. The only argument for minimaps is situational awareness, just stop for a couple moments to get your bearings, or if you really must, add in a minimap showing ONLY the position of your SL at maximum zoom.

I love the idea about realistic maps (as shown in the screenshots above), but I dislike the idea about no icons being shown. I don't think communication is good enough for it. The devs, of course, are welcome to test it and see how it goes, but I don't have too high hopes of implementing it successfully, to be honest.
As for the minimap in your HUD, I say good riddance. Like the crosshairs, it's amazing how little I miss the thing. It's like 'oh, it's gone, OK, whatever'. When I need to ID an enemy, I hit 'm' for the map (I know, I'm a noob), plain and simple. I find that the fact alone that it frees up precious screen space makes it worth the while for me.

Yes. It not only reflects the real-life situation, in which most SL's have a gps handy, but it also lightens the SL's already difficult job of rounding up his troops and deploying them to the proper locations. I wish that SL's didn't have a minimap, but, if possible, remove the delay when SL's hit M.

Maps take time to unpack and unfold. 1 second is generous, We try for reality as much as we canratlover232 wrote:f possible, remove the delay when SL's hit M.

No Mini Map. So please gives us a longer range in which to see squad personnel on the 3D map and allow us to see spotted enemy units on the 3D map when squad mates point them out.
I think it's ridiculous that a person who points out an enemy that is 100ft away can't simply get your attention, point to the enemy and demonstrate a number and type. Think of modern squad tactics in the real world. Think of all the silent hand gestures. You get a visual direction and number of enemy and type. You can't get that in PR due to the lack of the minimap and you have to describe degrees instead verbally which you have to assume is on VOIP or typed. However your degrees from your viewpoint are not the same degrees as their viewpoint since you are at a different angle so it does you no good if you are not "right next" to them.
So gives us the ability to know where are squad mates are and gives us the ability to see spotted enemy within a football field distance (360 ft). Basically turn on the 3D map to a limited range and leave the minimap off. It already exists now but is too short in range IMO and does not include enemies spotted.
