Magazine Increase
I love this mod, it defiantly makes Battlefield 2 a much better game, but the amount of magazines and grenades your soldier/marine/troop carries, is unrealistic. The average infantry troop (US atleast) carries about eight (8 ) extra magazines on him (thats with out a ruck of course). And than a minimum of four (4) M-67 grenades. The average light machine gunner (automatic rifleman) should have 800 rounds (total, 200 loaded, 600 extra).
This would atleast make it a little more realistic. I'm sure the amount was reduced to help increase teamwork, but still if you guys are going for realism...
Its not that big of a deal if the support (Automatic Rifleman/Light Machinegunner) troop's ammo isn't increased, because he can just drop ammo packs and get more ammo.

That's a lame excuse and the same type of argument game developers use to cut out stuff. Rappeling for example was cut because the devs thought everyone where gonna be too vounerable and no one would use it. But how can they know no one will use it if its not in the game!?!? Another example is the spear issue in the next Elder Scrolls, Oblivion. They cut spears because no one uses them in Morrowind. But how the **** do they expect us to use them when even a dagger is a better weapon?!?!FlyBoy wrote:well you really have to think about it, battles in PRMM dont really last that long, you dont have 30minute firefights are whatever that would require you to have that much ammo.I think that way it is now is fine.
Point being, we dont have 30 minute firefights in BF because we dont have the ammo to actually have a 30 minute firefight (not counting support).
Sorry about that little rant, its just that I find the argument incredibly annoying. We should have the mags so we could spend them firing in support if we want to.

Well maybe not increase the magazine count to that level, but atleast increase it all some, those 3 extra mags don't last that long, especially when you guesstimate how many rounds you have left in that mag and reload after a fire fight.
Also, I got in and out of fire fights earlier today (without dying and without a support troop near) and I ran out of ammo quiet fast (and thats using semi for the most part).

Well, I didn't think the guys here at project reality cared if we needed as much ammo as is realistic. I thought they only cared for realism. So, if that's the case where we issue much more ammo, then it should be fixed.
And just so you guys know, I've never run out of ammo, but I've come damn close many times. The only reason I never have run out was because when I'm down to one spair mag I find a dead persons kit to rearm with.
Also, the battles themselves might not themselves last for too long, but I've seen a good squad without a support running extremely low on ammo because they've revived eachother.

I really think they should update the ammo capacity.
On many occasions i have run out of ammo, mostly when I'm on defense at a flag, using my rounds to supress enemy infantry for some grenades to be thrown/launched at them.
I agree that the reason there isn't 10 minute firefights is that there isn't enough ammo for 10 minute firefights ... like it or not, you're not always next to a Support class being fed ammo, sometimes you're on your own at a position and have no one in your immeadiate vicinity to supply you with ammo.
I'd say the biggest annoyance is that you only get 2 grenades ... this is quite annoying when trying to clear a small group of buildings, because after two you have to move in to the buildings and potentially get shot.

1 more nade and 1 more clip....
Other configurations can make support class useless....
And...this will kill part of gameplay, teamwork.... u need to watch ammo and think about where this ****** **** support is... :>
I am for more ammo... but not as much as u want to....

I wonder will game play will be as fast as it is now mate... some ppl may want to prone and put as much ammo as they can without moveing... storm of fire... no moveing...Point being, we dont have 30 minute firefights in BF because we dont have the ammo to actually have a 30 minute firefight (not counting support).

But Realisticly dude as far as i know the "Support Class" is for heavy fire support not for handing out ammo (AS FAR AS I KNOW) so if the mod goes by its name it should go by what is realistic.Rifleman wrote:1 more nade and 1 more clip....

It would be great if the support kits couldn't refill their own ammo, and were given only a few ammo bags to resuply others with. They should only be allowed to resuply magazines on top of all this because I doubt that support troops just carry tons of extra grenades, both smoke and frag, that they couldn't use constantly for themselves. If made unable to resuply themselves, they should carry an extra belt of ammo for themselves.
I still think that that players should be alble to carry more ammunition though. What would be really cool, albeit impossible, would be if the support could hand out bullets and not just mags and players could load their mags manually.
There are pleny of marines who play this mod, or at least BF2, why not ask them what they are outfitted with?

So say PLEASE to DevTeam to provide us AmmoTrucks/Crates...But Realisticly dude as far as i know the "Support Class" is for heavy fire support not for handing out ammo (AS FAR AS I KNOW) so if the mod goes by its name it should go by what is realistic.
And dude think... TEAMPLAY...
This keeps squad together...
Medic with defibrilator isn't realistic in field... is it?
But MEDIC+SUPPORT+GRANADIERS=TEAM...^^

I agree there is an issue with the current use of ammo replenishment, especially if we are going for a little realism.
It would be cool if when you captured a control point, a supply crate would spawn there for replenishment and would last until 'empty' or when the enemy destroys it.
There is something wrong with a whole squad camping out on a rooftop with an endless supply of ammunition. That can make some rounds unbearable and promotes nade spamming.
I like the idea of the supprt kit only having a few ammo bags, like 6 or 7, just enough to replenish the whole squad once.

I think they should give supply bags to the rifleman class, but thats for another topic.
I think whoever has the supply bags, should either carry only 2-3 of them, or be able to slow-give ammo by holding it in their hands, and not be able to throw it down on the ground.
This would be balanced, as you either have a limited, but instant way of geting ammo, or an unlimited but very slow rate of ammo transfer.
But I agree, the SAW Gunner is not the fucking ammo boy, if anything, OTHERS will be carrying HIS ammo. That fucking thing is heavy, combined with carrying over 600 rounds of ammunition, you dont need to be carrying anymore weight than that.

Good idea..... it would keep squad together even better than it is now...I think whoever has the supply bags, should either carry only 2-3 of them, or be able to slow-give ammo by holding it in their hands, and not be able to throw it down on the ground.

Hehe, yeah it is. But I'd rather lug a M249 around all day with the 600+ rounds of extra ammunition than have to carry a M240G or a M60E4.fuzzhead wrote:But I agree, the SAW Gunner is not the fucking ammo boy, if anything, OTHERS will be carrying HIS ammo. Putting ammunition boxes in the map (and increasing everyone's starting magazine and grenade count) might be a way to do it, but the questions are these: 1) Is it possible? and 2) Would there be a way to make it so that opposing factions can't refill their ammunition counts from each other's boxes?
But I also like the idea of Support only having a few bags (just enough to replenish a full squad) or unlimited bags and not being able to just throw them down.

Yes and no I think. I dont really know if one can limit it though.Raptor wrote:1) Is it possible? and 2) Would there be a way to make it so that opposing factions can't refill their ammunition counts from each other's boxes?
Either way, I dont think crates should be there. Everything should be dynamic... A dedicated supply vehicle you can take anywhere. If your vehicles get stolen or overrun, tough luck
Having extra ammo as a rifleman would be neat too. Its the main grunt and he cant do much else than kill with a regular weapon (I consider a machinegun "special"). Especially if he only recieves a rifle without nade launcher in the future.
