Hi everyone,

I'm putting in this post in response to the many many unfortunately thoughtless posts regarding 'military accuracy' and sentences that go IRL soldiers are trained to not piss in their pants. Here is the purpose of this thread.

TO CLARIFY what is REAL and what is WRONG.

To clarify this I intend to put up links for your individual research so that you can read/learn about how things are.

The only part I'm going to comment on is this:

Before every mission we would take whats called a combat dump. That's going and forcing your body to piss/shit before a patrol. That way if you get shot/surprised your bodies natural instinct to empty its bowels (to remove the harmful materials) doesn't happen.

We actually received briefings prior to deployment telling us to do this. No lie.

I'm not saying that this is impossible, but I've never experienced anything like this. A reaction like this wouldn't be exclusive to combat, either. This means that people who were in car accidents or other close calls would defacate, and I don't know anyone that has experienced that, either. Also, I don't personally know anyone that has ever had this problem. I'm sure that this has happened, but I would have to say that it is EXTREMELY rare.

Damn, dude. Between doing that and the MREs, it's amazing that half of your unit doesn't have to sit in the Stryker on inflatable doughnut-pillows because of hemorrhoids.

Ryan, perhaps you've never heard about it because the MREs make it difficult for that to happen?

Did they ever give you guys those powdered milkshakes so you can take a dump? Two of those and youll be shitting for half an hour. I forgot what they were called but I tried twice and thats it.

The Dairyshakes have been discontinued in the new MRE's.

The briefing/speech we were given prior to our last deployment was by Dave Grossman who wrote the books "On killing" and "On Combat" two excellent reads that I would highly recommend.

Yes it does happen, you just never hear about it because frankly who would admit to it. Plus in today's warfare we are given much more opportunities to relieve ourselves than in wars past so the rates aren't as high of course.

Although ironicaly enough having to piss could have saved my life one time. Normally I would be breach man but because I had to take a leak (and the house looked empty as shit from the outside) my nco took the lead and let me piss. He ended up getting a 7.62 through the arm/right lung =\

I remember one of the NBC lessons we had prior to Iraq in 2003. Deficating and urinating drills in an NBC environment. The funniest single lesson you will ever receive as a British soldier.

The immortal phrase coined was ''it's like trying to piss with a hard-on''. How I laughed.

I'm not a soldier but a civilian in Iraq, my cousin works in the Kirkuk Electricity Plant which is defended by Americans and Iraqi's, he brought home 5 packets of these American food packets.. there was some really tasty spaghetti, i tried the Strawberry milkshake that came with it, let me tell you, i'd rather drink toilet water.

My wife and I were once flying in a boeing in a holliday's trip, when suddenly the plane stated descending as if landing, except we were at the mid of nowhere, then the oxigen masks fell, and pilot's told us to wear the masks, and so we did. My wife started passing out and fainted for a moment. After some time the plane stoped descending, and the pilot explained us there were a problem in cabin pressure, and thus we should go on fine at a lower altitude to our destination. My wife had woken up and was ok again, but then she realised she had literally pissed in her pants, I don't know wether of panic or what, maybe so. So yes, I think it can really happen in distressfull situations, as in combat.
