JUST WONDERING Frostbite Engine
Well...I have no clue on this really...I just know that BF:Bad Company will be using the FrostBite engine and it'll be on PS3,Xbox 360,and PC...So is it possible to turn over to that engine or not?OR is it against modding regulations to switch engines?

The Frostbite engine used in Battlefield: Bad Company will also be used in Battlefield 3 (official), so the OP isn't too far out
And no, at the current time the DEVs have stated several times that NO engine conversion is being considered.
Yeah, moving engines *is* possible. It takes a lot of work though and requires every player to switch to the new game, so although it's not forbidden (and there are no "modding regulations" other than whatever terms and conditions are set in the EULA of the 'host' software), it's unpopular with most teams.
Put it this way: Forgotton Hope was one of the most popular mods for BF1942. It's taken them almost THREE years to convert to BF2.

true it will take allot of time to convert the mod for the frostbite engine. but.. i belief the frostbite engine is wayy better then the bf2 engine, and is capable of destructible objects (houses etc) and more important 80 player on a server
and of course it will be more eye candy
but there are negative points too.. i belief its Vista only witch requires DX10 video cards. and people with''old''computers wont be able to run it probably so a system update is required..

Probably never. Considering how tough modding for BF2 was, and even tougher it was for 2142, BF3 is probably 100% un-moddable.agentscar wrote:Okay,so will we be seeing a PR for BF3?
Wikipedia says BF:Bad Company will be on PC also. But Yea,I always thought it was gonna be console only.
This is because the leaders at EA have no business sense.

I'd say attempting to create a computer game monopoly with a mass of help from advertising was pretty good business sense...
As much as it'd be nice to have an engine change it seems very unlikely, as most modern engines seem to require more and more work to develop or modify (from what I've heard at least).

we already have destroyable building so why do we need to go onto frostbite

The BF2 engine also has a good server browser, (compared to COD), runs on many systems (compared to Crysis), can support 64 players with Vehicles and dosnt use steam (steam games must be online to play). unfortunatly BF2 is hardcoded to hell and back, buggy at times and has incorrect physiscs and a lack of leaning.
