Small 0.7 Maps = Amazing fun

Post by VipersGhost »

The first time I got into 0.7 we played EJOD 16 player version (but had full 64 people). It was an insane infantry battle. Easily one of my best PR times I've ever had and I only got a couple of kills. It was chaotic but with lots of squad cohesion and tension. It wasn't spammy...although limiting the nade tossing range would be benificial for sure.

Now I haven't played that small map version yet again but it was just awesome when we did. I know it might have drawbacks but with 32players fighting for a small city it feels like the right number of people are in on the action...it has just an awesome feel of tension and suspense. Suppression fire was everywhere...rooftops were killers and we were working off of other squads easily. A lot of good things about 0.7 were shown off in the intense action of the infantry street fighting. Oh man...the sounds were just rediculous...it was like being in one of those youtube videos literally. We were yelling stuff out and retreating, flanking and attacking with precision...so much fun.

I'd personally REALLY like to see what some of these other small versions looks like (Market garden?). Maybe we can try and get these versions included a lot more in the rotations...especially with the commander bug screwing the big maps. It'd definitely be a nice change of pace once in a while for sure!!

If there's one thing PR in 0.7 has done REALLY well its the infantry street fighting imo (besides the long distance nades). What do you guys think? I know this is a server side decision so actually getting a change would require some guys at TG (the server we play typcially).

btw - bring your ammo bag cause you'll need it! You'll go through clip after clip laying down the suppression.

I too was able to have that kind of experience and it felt great. But alot of people prefer pr to be like a squad-based dear hunter game.

Eh I'm not so sure about the deer hunter game :) I know it's like that at times and can be fun for sure...but I'm betting a lot of guys would like a change of pace every couple of rounds to some intense fighting without all the vehicles and stuff. This is where imo PR shines EASILY...its like the teamwork\coordination are easy to do and the action is high and the blood is red :)

I bet if they played a couple of good games like this once in a while the people would be hooked.

Infantry battles are quite epic now I agree.

Yea i love the small intense battles you only get on a 16 size map with 64 players, and also think the large maps a cool, don't see why there cant be more of these smaller maps running on 64 player servers.

These are the only maps types I play now, anything large is too slow paced and boring now IMO.

I think EJOD has improved alot gameplay wise since 0.7, the city fights really feel like city fights.... holding a specific corner is possible and very important!

"The men inside (the APC) might have been UN but they were playing by a completely different set of rules. They were Swedes; in terms of individual intelligence, integrity and single-mindedness I was to find them among the most impressive soldiers I had ever encountered. In Vares their moment had come."

Anyone have any pull at TG? It'd be nice to get more of these in the rotation, see what other guys think.

Anyone thinking about putting the combat zone closer, so we can have some head-on battles like this on 64 player size? /b1tch :p

Although remove the sniper, AA and heavy AT kit for 16 player maps and they'd be 100% perfect, IMO.

Hell yeah man....good call. Sometimes I'm just tired of combined arms and all the leg work that goes with being in the military :) My shovel arm gets tired lol. Gimme some intense non-stop urban firefights ONCE in a while to up the ante ;) The money is there, someone just needs to spend it....then all these guys complaining that PR isn't there style because the game is busted/changed will see the light and there will be a nice mix for everyone without sac'ing realism features like no-SL-spawn and no-minimap (both I love).
