fighting tactics have changed
Hey since the release of this version, havent u guys noticed a change in gameplay? Im not talking about the new things we have, but the fact that in albrashar there used to be so much gunfire and battles in certain places, and now its a ghost town... on a full server, the absence of the minimap actually didnt bring the squad together, very rarely did i see that, it separated people apart, and everything just got messy now... i dont know, but this is the most contraversial release yet. I mean dont get me wrong, i love these guys for bringing this mod up, but the game play got dull... i dont want it to happen, but in alot of servers thats just the way it seems right now. I dont know what it is yet, il ponder on that, but theres something up now, i think it might be the accuracy ****... i know some of u guys are gonna disagree, and i think its cuz ur lucky enough to be in a squad that likes to work together, but jesus, i even see a MAJOR absence of microphone users... squads would always kick ppl without mics, now only 2 or 3 ppl only have mics on them, its weird... Feels like Project reality got a virus and everything turned bitter all of a sudden... and id hate to see that happen. Well its either that, or im going through a major depression right now... i mean i did break up with my gf not too long ago... i could use a nice cup of joe right about now

Sry mate, but basrah is not supposed to be a 'battle', because the british do not have the tickets needed to even win one.
The redcoats are supposed to go in find the cache and blow the damn thing up, ideally without dieing.
I dont even think that the best squads on the same team would have enough to make a dent in the insurgent tickets.

lol, ok i understnad what eddi is tryign to say.. but you have to admit that the previous version was alot more adventurous. Brits had to defend VCP and find cache, and lots of battles were going on everywhere, it was spectacular. Speaking of basrah though, i do honeslty and painfully miss the VIP mode games, what ever happened to that? Do server just not host it anymore?

i agree with this. ive seen a massive influx of new players. i dont know how many times ive had to tell people how to get a kit/ how to place rally point/ how to use tanks etc. since the release of .07 people who came in from vanilla are for the most part not used to using a mic. every release has had the "breaking in" period. this one is just more pronounced due to the amount of changes and higher learning curve. hopefully many of these new people will stay and become good team orientated players.Silvarius2000 wrote:Its still new. Give it awhile. I still get 50/64 servers pretty nicely depending on the time. Plenty of newcomers too so not as much voice as I'd like. Had awesome games and some not so

Without the minimap there is more confusion, and a slight sense of chaos and things seem a bit disorganized. Which is more real and immersive. Once you have re-learned the maps without the help and crutch of the minimap it will get better. That confusion and chaos feeling causes people to slow down and be much more deliberate in what they are doing. Kinda puts an end to run-n-gun tactics all by itself doesn't it? Now it is ULTRA important for teams to TALK to each other on voip. Think shoot, move, COMMUNICATE. Talking to your squad mates is the very best weapon you have now, even more important than before. You should always have some voip chatter going on, letting teammates know where you are and what your intentions are. Especially Squad leaders.

I don't join VoIP squads generally, have serious mic problems. So not all of us without mics are super nubbies.
I think its a bit different, but maps like Jabal are still basically the same, just with a cool new M16. Oh, and an even higher incidence of newbies gunning randomly and crashing choppers. But that will calm down in time.

yea it is, just in the city which is why they got rid of the VCP cap. And the British have better weapons for long range combat and even close and generally kill more insurgents then they are killed because they also have medics and apcs to their side.Eddiereyes909 wrote:Sry mate, but basrah is not supposed to be a 'battle', because the british do not have the tickets needed to even win one.

I agree that they don't have enough people to make a dent in their tickets though.

The reason Basrah seems boring because everyone is still playing it like 0.6 where the brits can go off on their own unsupported and still find caches and it was "safe" for the insurgents to cross open ground. The trick is to get people to be on the same page and know how to fight. For example the way to go for the brits is for the infantry to load into the IFV while an armor column covers them while they manually search for caches. Now what insurgents need to do is always think ambush never attack. Traps, chokepoints and bottlenecks is where the party should be and trust me nothing is more satisfying than cutting down unsuspecting brits. After a couple successfull ambushes you really see them start to shit themselves because the next time they come with tanks.lol IED's gallore

razick, thats the problem though. THe insurgents are all ambushing the airport. THere is not a single soul at VCP anymore because its totally useless now. But the Brits are stuck at airport and they dont do ****, because they wont leave on foot and they wait for a jeep. Once out there they are always greeted by 5 guys popping off rpgs, and the party ends there. Its absolutely terrible... but its no fun being an insurgent either, cuz u wait defending a chache, that never gets attakced in the first place.... buuuuut if u get lucky to have an armor convoy, they ususally sit on the main road all the way to the north east near the pipes, and just sit there shooting anything that doesnt look british ("Hey was that a Brit or Insurgent?... oh hell lets shoot at it just to make sure!). I dont know... i do miss the a10's... those were good ol days. I know its unfair now, but at least a littlebird transport instead of the constant glitchign merlin would be a sweet alternative.

I totaly agree with Fuzzhead. I loved playing this map and is my favorite on PR, but the BattleArena server is completly unplayable now with the lack of teamwork, lonewolves, and flat out noobfest it has become. If you want to goof off, go back to vanilla BF2 please.....[R-DEV]fuzzhead wrote:If your playing on the battlearena server, than thats the reason you probably feel this way.
