Highway Chase

Post by Heskey »

Would it be possible to create a map involving a high-way chase, with humvees and trucks and such?

I've always liked the sort of 'flee the enemy on a highway' style missions in games, and I got such a buzz the other night when me and Viglen hid in a Landie below Militia Bunker on Fool's Road, and stormed after a Technical, APC and Support Truck we saw coming down the road, proceeding to blow them all up.

Any chance at all?

Or maybe even a moving train, against humvees etc?

I don't think it's plausible...

PR usually takes a very basic military scenario (ie: defending/assaulting flags in a certain region) and gives us the opportunity to create memorable sequences like the one you mentioned.

The great thing about PR is these type of things just happen!

I think this is one of those things that would have to take place in the context of the game. There are rare moments where your jeep comes across an enemy jeep, and suddenly you're playing cops & robbers. Those are almost always memorable. Though, I don't think there should be a gamemode dedicated to "pursuit" or something. Sounds like too much work for something I doubt would be played a lot.

Well, if you could make a REALLY long map and have to make it from one end to the other, with a chance for insurgents to set up IEDs and such, it could work out. But you can't, so....

I agree with terranova- when it happens its awesome, but its not really plausible to make it happen given the current constraints of the engine.

With the recent addition of a functional ied, this would be awesome.

I'm gona draw out what I'm thinking in ms paint but a large battle across a highway would be awesome.

My idea would be more of a new map than a game type.

Edit: Something along the lines of this:

Image

Basically, a major highway surrounded by tall buildings with plenty of spots for ambushes. The US could counter with having light helicopters like the little bird.

The main highway (light grey) twists to fit more of it on a map.

It would be littered with civilian cars, some destroyed, some not.

Love the idea :)

I'm thinking maybe instead of going traditional VIP escort... why dont we merge some concepts together? The insurgent cache system and the VIP system.

This idea would require a map that has many many roads and streets and cover. Map size would be small though since it would be difficult to catch the target.

My suggestion? This is the meat. Perhaps we'd have the spawn point for the VIP side as random as the Caches. So upon beginning the match there would be spawn point no.1 which everyone would spawn on including vehicles (Or without any vehicles whatsoever) and VIP kit (or VIP vehicle).

And the objective would be to reach a checkpoint which would be ideally on the opposite side of the map but the OPFOR team would be given multiple POSSIBLE checkpoints forcing them to spread out.

Upon completion of the match by VIP destruction , there would be ticket loss and the spawn point would reset to a new point.

I know I possibly have mentioned a few impossible feats of coding but I suppose its good to brainstorm yeh?

Out,
