Can Squad Leaders please have the ability to restrict kits for their squads?

Post by DavidP »

It's probably obvious why i'm posting this but here it goes.

Reason 1.

I went sl a few days ago on fool's road, I had originally just 2 guys with me, I had officer kit, One was medic, And one was rifleman optics. Initially we were doing good, Had a rally very close to their base and we where preventing them from capping warehouse, Anyway about 20 minutes into the round i get another person in my squad. I greet him and tell him to spawn in as what he wants and help us defend warehouse. This guy does'nt listen well. He gets Light AT and goes off into their base trying to rape.

I get mad and type(Mic broke)dude get your *** back to warehouse and help us! They have an Apc and we need your help! He dies and I tell him respawn as engy or request something with explosives and come help us out! He ignores me, Respawns and gets markmen kit... Wtf! I said something with explosives! He just goes off into their base and starts raping again. :| I quickly turn my attention to the matter at hand and tell the other 2 to retreat, One gets Light AT and manages to make the apc retreat,I commend my squadmates and tell them to reload and go back to defending warehouse, I hit capslock and proceed to check the location of the lonewolf, Turns out that he's dead... I ask him how long till you can respawn? He types 10 seconds, I tell him good but you'll have to respawn somewhere else, I proceed to kick him from squad. He rejoins and this 12-13 year old voice starts going apeshit over the mic that i kicked him from squad! I kick him again and proceed to lock the squad.

About 10 minutes later our rally goes down, I immediately retreat with my 2 squadies and place a new one, Another minutes later it's also blown! I'm like wtf? I walk with my squad west towards the trains, We find a really nice and secluded spot close to the edge of the map where noone would look. I tell them this time we guard it with our lives! About 5 minutes pass and i see 2 teammates on my map heading towards us, To my surprise it's the kid i kicked from my squad earlier! And hes got a friend. I look him straight in the eyes(Well as straight as you can in a videogame) He proceeds to walk right up to our rally and drops a nade on it! We all retreat and our rally gets blown! I'm typing like mad in general chat wtf dude! What was that for? He types fuck you david! His friend then tk's my squadmates while he goes for me i wont let him and i put an L85a2 round in his chest, His friend too but i'm too slow, I get a bullet to my head. His friend revives him and they both start t-bagging us!

I'm asking him "Wtf is your problem motherf*cker!" He just laughs and says f*ck you *******! (I get a language warning and he does too) I ask for admin but no response, As we respawn my entire squad get's tk'ed again by those 2 twice! My squadies get pissed and just leave the squad, I dont wanna get banned so i just leave the server.

Reason 2.

Last night on basrah i join a british armor squad. Lemme make this short. It was just 3 of us in an apc. My sl was kicking people who kept joining and requesting Sniper, Support, Spec-Ops, And anything having nothing to do with keeping the apc alive. Which resulted in his attention being focused more on kicking then driving.

So i was thinking would it be possible within the limits of the bf2 engine to make it so Squad leaders can restrict certain kits in their squad? Maybe through the comm rose? Kinda like kit request but right clicking will block it and right clicking agan will unblock it. Also it would show up as blocked for your squadmembers.

So guys who's with me? I bet i'm not the only one who's sick and tired of disobedient squad members?

EDIT: The guys name was "bubba9" something, His friend "Sir." And some random numbers.

That would be awesome certainly. I've had so many frustrations...
Me on Basrah:
"Ok guys, we're going to take out their bridges and camp their land bridges with IEDs, so everyone spawn as Ambusher" and then 2 guys spawn as civilians...

For #2, the Sl should lock the squad or deal with Mates if he needs them before he leaves base

I'm going to take a guess that this is impossible to do, unless you just make it so the SL has to request kits for everyone, which might not be so bad.

1. Kick out of the squad them on sight.

2. They come back to grief, shoot them in the face, because they are going to do the same to you, if you don't.

3. Ask for admin/leave the server.

4. Report them here:

Woah, now there is a thought. Of course, that would give the SL's immense powers, but hey, if ur SL sucks, just change squad or make ur own.

Also, that would mean that SL's should be able to request several kits in succession.

Well yeah, naturally it should be limited to the number of their squadmembers which is already possible.

would be good if you could request for each squadmember to have a certain kit, (like a squad invite) they can then accept of decline the kit.

This way the SL has a multilingual way of asking each squadmember to get a certain kit so he can at least try to get the sort of squad he needs to do the job the squad has been requested to do

If you can show me the way a sniper works against an APC, then feel free to take it over the LAT kit i asked for...

To be an effective squad certain situations demand a certain balance of kits, for obvious reasons. In an ideal world everyone would be able to play their kit of choice, but a squad full of markmen or support just aren't going to be able to deal with common situations, any more than a squad full of medics are, a kit I often ask people to spawn in as, as SL. Most of the best PR player I know say hello and ask what's going on and what kit the SL wants when they join a squad.

If you don't like the way a SL runs their squad, join another or start your own. Not everyone's going to get on with everyone in the PR community.

^Right I would kick them. Several days ago some guys in my squad fired from are RP and I pulled my sidearm out and almost shot them in the back of the head with 2 shots. But just kicked them from the squad and then typed a reason. But if you think a sniper is best on Kashan then your an idiot. A sniper I have found lives about 30 minutes on Kashan due to draw distance.

to OP
1. Dont SL without a mic, bad idea
2. as mentioned earlier, kick member for not listening, then if he tks punish him most servers have a auto kick after certain amount of punished tks

As for Controling SMs kits no please! it would just add more headache to SLs. If you cant play with people that use teamwork, listen and ask what kits are needed your playing with the wrtong people, kick them from your squad.

PS. i see more cons then pros with a system like this as it can easly be abused.

Bad idea IMO. I would hate to be forced to use a certain kit without my agreement, even though I understand your frustration.

What was the situation? Were you on the offense or defense? Did you happen to have armor breathing down on you? Did you happen to have a lonewolf running off with the kit he requested?

Normally i'm fine with anyone getting a kit they want as long as it's not an emergency and they stick close to me! I dont like people joining squads just to get kits and lonewolf.

Some people are going to be jerks, you just have to deal with it.

As far as not SLing without a mic, some of us don't have the luxury of a perfectly working BF2 setup, or in Davids case a working mic. A squad doesn't necessarily need voice orders to be successful, it just needs the right orders and to follow them.

That’s too bad. I think it would be great if the SL could assign everyone’s kit/class. He could ask for any preferances before the game starts, and then set the squad up exactly as he sees fit.

just asking your squad members to do this should be all thats required...

if they dont obey orders or dont respond, then they arent useful squad members in the first place...

you got 3 minutes before round starts for a reason, to sort the smacktards from the decent players in your squad before the round begins
