Long Laser Designation Times

Post by VipersGhost »

It can be difficult to work with a pilot who isn't in your squad in a hectic battlefield. I think it would be nice to have the laser designation times for the Soflam to be increased. I think it is at 15secs right now...30 would be good I think. I don't know what drawbacks/sideeffects there might be to this but it doesn't seem so bad.

well if you increase it to 30 sec then you could fire the soflam and leave, not really like it should be, if anything it should go down to less then a second so you have to hold the button down to guide the bomb, but right now if you were to keep clicking it wouldnt work due to the way the soflam guides the bomb.

yea the idea is normally your holding the laser on target while the bomb looks for the reflection.

I'm guessing holding down the button to target paint is a hardcode wall.

best thing is PILOTS USE THE VEHICLE IS ON THE WAY COMMAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it's not hard and lets the ground troops know when their air support is coming in so they can hit that 15 second window, incidently pilots should try to make sure theyre about 20 seconds away when they say they're inbound.

Pilots often cant type so christ just use that button more please lol

well, if you made it so that the laser target object was on the effect for the bullet not the bullet itself then you could just make it so that the effect would last just untill the next bullet would hit, this would be with a fire rate of 200+ so if you stoped holding the button then the effect would stop and no more guided bomb. but from what the devs have said to me, you cant attach a laser targte object to a effect.

So zangoo, what I got from that was a confusing explanation of what would NOT work to fix the problem. Is that about right?

kinda, from the tests i have done on a local server it has worked 100%, but i am waiting for the dedicated server code cus the devs say the code is diffrent, so it could work or it could not.

While we are on the topic of soflams, Would it be possible to make the laser projectile the soflam fires Guidable? Like the HAT, so you dont need to lead the thing you want lased.

yes it is possible, just add a lptarget comp to the simrad, make it use a
unique target and make a new missile, that would track that, it would work really good.
