I was helping a squad at estate the other night on Qwai in the attack littlebird. They didn't say a word about the incoming tank that nearly took me out...
So you're the one that got away!

Ok Thanks guys I can see you reasons but for those who don't read because of the BS, why not just do the BS in the everyone chat and then TEAM chat can be used for mission communication for your team.
Even with the BS I believe you should read the chat anyway then have the team/squad chat for minimal bs, and for mission purposes like I said.

I really dislike, when theres someone bitching in caps about something stupid like 'OMG DIS MOD R SUX; DEREZ NO MINIMAP', but then I again, it pisses me even more, when am in a vehicle, like a tank, I help out a squad defending a flag, then check the map, see they are O.K:, go help someone else and 2 minutes later I see 'we've lost command of an outpost', since the squad over there got wiped out, they all spawned at the RP or bunker/firebase and went back there and did not tell anyone about it.
I mean, how hard is it to type "we just lost our defenses at the flag, need help", while you respawn?
Most of the time its like this:
"hey squad 1, need help?"
"..."
After a while:
"squad 1, did you spot something over there? need support?"
"..."
Then, 'we've lost command of an outpost'
"k, why didn't you say, you need help? we're on our way."
"..."
After 2 minutes 'you were killed, you will respawn in...'
"you could at least mention, there's an enemy tank there, you know..."

Chat comes with mixed results. It's usually best to only use chat when having something important to say to other players. Otherwise, it's usually a bunch of spam that detracts from gameplay. Nothing wrong with having a conversation with others though. Usually I use to chat to communicate with pilots (and vice-versa) and on occasion with other squads. Coordination with other squads is difficult because sine there's no SL-to-SL VOIP channel, team and global chat easily goes unnoticed. You would practically need a dedicated "communicator" or something in your squad to actually spend most of his/her time reading chat messages.
