Voice activated VOIP

Post by ConscriptVirus »

Sorry if this is really old as i found in a 2 year old post, but i never knew of this in my lloong experience with bf2

Have Voice activated VOIP so you dont need to push down the button
link below:

Tips and Tricks - War Geeks Clan

bascially navigate
C:\Documents and Settings\Your name\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001 (depending on which profile you use)

find Audio.con and look for AudioSettings.setVoipUsePushToTalk 1 and set that to AudioSettings.setVoipUsePushToTalk 0

cheers
hopefully itll help someone

As soon As I read the 'Voice Activated VOIP' I said to my self 'don't use ti!'
It is impossible to talk on the phone, with another person in the room, to mates in TS, ect.

yah same here..., i think ( for me atleast ) VOIP voice activation would be a seriously bad idea as im always cussing an mumbing something derogatory ingame under my breath lol. Im sure itll be useful to someone though.

Quote from ArmA forums says it all.
"Arma 2 has a very lucky dev team, who have a very patient community, who will always stay loyal in the faith that one day arma 2 will be complete.
Flashpoint has a weeks worth of out the box gameplay, after that it's boring. "

Thank god it's not a default setting.

I would get banned for excessive swearing on 99% of PR servers otherwise

Besides I hate voice activations anyways. It never works as it should so either you'll hear breathing all the time or it'll just cut of in the middle sentence.

I'd just be worried about when the phone rings. Apart from that, I don't really express my frustration verbally. I keep it all bottled up, along with my rage and aggression, where it never ever causes any problems in other areas of my life :D

Haha, but seriously, I just don't use this feature because I hate how voice activation always cuts the first bit of everything you say. You end up elongating the first syllable of everything, or making some random sound to activate the VOIP before everything you say. It never works like it should.

Not a fan of voice activated either. I like to be able to control what other people are hearing, and I live in a loud house so getting it to activate correctly can sometimes be an issue.

I think it is a bad idea as well... The only thing my squad mates would hear is my wife bitching at me for something or my kids asking me for money to go to the mall....

It will be so annoying. I used to have my TS voice activated when I laddered in RVS. It was fine until some bonehead didnt have a headset and their mic was kept open. Imagine being at a concert with a sudden burst of feedback, or the morons who kept their mic open, voice activation enabled and then their voice (or that of a teammate) coming thru their speakers back into their mic thru the speakers again. It was like playing in a canyon, the echo was awful.

VOIP is not designed for alot of communication data..just simple yes, no, location here, there..etc. I have a ts server, and I would love to get in a squad and have everyone join the ts. Then voice activation can be ok. Even then, if only half the squad is using ts and the other half using voip, it can get really confusing. Even if you press the voip button to talk to the rest of the squad, the rest of your mates on ts will also hear it..and go, "huh, what, where..you talking to me.."..lol
