Play Basrah and stay in the city. Same concept as Karkand with the desert being opened up.~KILL~....Pirate-X wrote:This gets at the heart of thw whole Karkand debate Masaq, you say make a map that has the CQB intensity of Karkand in a PR friendly syle. Well, that is the problem, what is PR friendly? It seems to me, that PR friendly means huge maps where everyone is so spread out, that CQB intensity is almost non-existant now. I think that alot of us are looking for that intensity of battle that is now lacking in the current PR maps and Karkand was the best map for that style of combat and intensity. I want realism as much as anybody, but I also and alot others as well, want to have fun and intense battles.

EJOD 16plr version. People dog on these maps saying they are spammy etc but EVERY time I play EJOD its so fun and intense...a VERY welcomed change from Quinling. We have half our team covering one street and half covering the next one over. Guys are yelling about tangos around the corner...suppression is the word of the day etc.~KILL~....Pirate-X wrote:This gets at the heart of thw whole Karkand debate Masaq, you say make a map that has the CQB intensity of Karkand in a PR friendly syle. Basrah is the only map I play on PR right now, but have you played it lately? Waiting in the city now for combat (since VCP is uncappable) is like waiting for a million bucks to fall in my lap. Between half the players camping far from the city in armor and the other half Teamkilling each other at main for the armor and jeeps and helicopter, the city can be pretty quiet these days. Basrah is the closest map to CQB in PR, but it still lacks the CQB feel of never knowing if the enemy is around the corner and that rush of battle you get from confronting 8 tangos when there is only 4 of your guys around to stop them, knowing your probably gonna die, but just a matter of how many you gonna take to hell with you type of battles.[R-CON]OkitaMakoto wrote:Play Basrah and stay in the city. That is why I asked the question, what is considered PR friendly when it comes to CQB map? I dont want to spend hours on BF2 editor or GMAX making and designing a map for PR and then you guys saying well, its just not PR friendly. I am gonna pull out the ole maping tools and see what I can come up with....

So change servers? The only you play on regularly is clearly filled with TKers and non-teamworkers.
Also, some of the most intense CQB I've experienced has come on Kashan, in the bunker complex
It's possible to spend the entire round letting the armor whores and flyboys battle on the outside whilst the infantry decide the fate of the two bunker flags at close range with weapons on 3-rnd-burst or full auto.

Yes, but for it to be included the Devs need to aprove, so just because im going to audit it, does not mean it will be includedZaZZo wrote:The IDF community mod folks are making a Karkand audit aren't they?
And it would be a placeholder map until we get new maps
Im working more on gaza, i will probably be able to release it togheter with the IDF, but if the IDF becomes ready before Gaza we would need to use placeholder maps

I see a psychiatrist every couple of days, professionally. Just how you think that talking to an overpaid pill-pusher is going to stop people having an opinion about an online game is beyond me.BabaGurGur wrote:Im all for karkand in PR, as stated before, alot of gameplay changes have changed the way karkand works, so to all you people with bad memories of karkand, time to see a psychiatrist and face it, PR needs a street fight map OTHER then ejod, karkand with the sky.con thingy of Ejod and the water.con of OCS will look awesome
On the other hand, I know exactly what will happen if you continue to post insulting messages in these forums.
You're entitled to hold an opinion about how many 'street fight maps' Project Reality should ship with, but you're not entitled to suggest that anyone who doesn't agree with you should seek psychiatric help. I and others involved in the provision of mental health services are paid to help people experiencing genuine distress, and aren't here to be used as the butt of jokes because someone's too lazy to properly debate a subject and so resorts to insulting people that don't agree with them.
It's simple:
If you want to edit Karkand so it uses the resources you mentioned, by all means open up BF2ed and make the map in the way in which you think it should be. Then submit it to the PR community and see what people think of it.
If you're NOT willing to do that work yourself, kindly leave the guys who *are* willing to put in time and effort creating new and original levels to make the maps that *they* want to make. Because in my experience the levels that come out of the PR Devs and Cons are far more enjoyable for PR (and generally better made) than those that shipped with vBF2.
I'd rather see another Fool's Road before I see another Karkand, easy.

You know its kinda funny, but I feel about Basrah the way the Karkand haters feel about that map. Its the map all the noobs play, the UK side usually consist of 50% of thier players back at the main camping the helo and armor spawn points in a way that make "Mine" look like a documentary. Most of the noobs try to team swap to get on the UK, and all of the experienced players try to get on Insurgent side. Then, as you mentioned, the good players run around the beautifully mapped city looking for that one or two UK player who lone wolfed his way into the city only to run into a Cow in a dark alley. I only play that map when I know who I'm playing with nowadays, and avoid it when I'm just out pub'in.~KILL~....Pirate-X wrote:Basrah is the only map I play on PR right now, but have you played it lately?
Oman and EJOD on 16 player map with 64 players is pretty good, as is Street, I will just have to look for more of those servers out there.
One thing I think we can say difinitively is that this issue generates a lot of emotion, look we're up to 10 pages and the thread is still pretty active.

The only vBF2 map, that IMO, should make it's way to PR is Shongua Stalemate. Awesome map in vBF2, underplayed though

You get my second salute of the thread Hfett... I hope that the Devs take an open mind approach to this when you finish auditing the map. If it turns out great and "PR friendly", why not add it and let those who love it play it, even if it is a placeholder map and only temporary. It is obvious that there are plenty of us in the PR community who would play this map and others like it. Why couldn't PR bring map the old maps as well that many have said were there favorites, such as OP:Greasy Mullet, Operation Clean Sweep, Street, Karkand etc...
No map ever made is gonna make 100% of the people happy. You either love a map or hate it. That is why map diversity is such an important aspect in any mod.
