The Javelines have to firing modes, one where it goes straight to the target like a normal AT launcher, and another where it is fired into the air and strikes the tank on the weakest part (the top of the turret). I have a video were they were test firing the Javeline on an old T-72 and it took it out completely, only thing left was some of the treads and the lower part of the tank (the T-72 and the T-80 should actually be the tanks that the MEC should have... but whatever).lonelyjew wrote:I thought javelines could be powerful enough to take out an mbt with one hit, or at least disable. Not even a javeline to the rear could kill an abrams? I don't really know, but I figured that they could.
Actually that video you posted would be the video I was talking about.
The Javelin is the only troop carried anti-tank missile that I'm aware of that could take out a Main Battle Tank in one hit. The Eryx and the SMRAW defiantly couldn't take out a MBT (especially not an Abrams or the Challenger 2) in one hit, hell even two hits is a little extreme (unless they're both to the top or direct rear hits). But most likely, the tank would just be disabled (and sometimes just from moving, not from attacking).
Unfortunately, Battlefield 2's engine can't handle a damage system like that in Operation Flashpoint.
