just to clear up something about weapon deviation
does only movement (i.e. forward/backwards left/right) & stance effect weapon deviation? or is mouse movement included as well?

Yes. The deviation added by strafing/walking/running/crawling is all the same and mouse movement is different. For the M16A4, the maximum deviation from moving (w,a,s,d) is 10 times the amount from turning. The movement deviation is instantaneously at its maximum for moving (w,a,s,d) and for turning takes two server frames, of turning, which is 1/15 of a second to its maximum. It takes 1 and a third seconds for all handheld guns to steady from turning and moving.krekc wrote:does only movement (i.e. forward/backwards left/right) & stance effect weapon deviation? or is mouse movement included as well?

Yeah i've read it 3 times and I still don't understand it tbh.. all I want to know is if I move my mouse does it cause deviation? eg.. i'm situated in the prone position without movement but tracking a moving enemy just using my mouse..

does slower movement cause less deviation than sharper? I'm pretty late to the 0.7 party as I had to replace a broken mouse. TBH i'm dieing a lot, it's horrendous tbh you wouldn't think i've been playing PR for over a year! i've got about 20 odd kills with 60 odd deaths a 1:3 ratio from at least a 1:1 even on a bad day
. I'm just trying to understand why I can't hit a barn door from 100 meters..

About a 10th of the possible amount caused by moving. Slower movement makes virtually no difference as the deviation caused by turning gets to its maximum possible value in 1/15 of a second. Remember, deviation is random. Even with all this added deviation it is possible to headshot someone at 1000m after running, jumping and spinning. It is however very unlikely to do so.Yes.

Nice info Nedlands thanks
If you want a better idea of how this is working, get hold of a HAT kit sometime. With its new HUD it will show how movement is affecting things and you can apply that idea to all kits roughly.
The sniper scopes exaggerate things even more afaik and a couple are just broke apparently?
The old prone/crouch trick still works because bf2 is **** like that and doesnt recognise it as a proper movement
ie. someone who has just changed from prone to standing without moving (w/a/s/d) is able to fire instantly and with good accuracy and vice versa too probably (afaik)

...
pretty much standard issue kits, mainly medic - so far. I've been sticking to small 16 player inf maps mainly as my PC seems to be no longer up to the task of playing on maps with 40+ players in them, and it's mainly 64 player maps that are busy at the minute; unless late at night.
I'm enjoying the smaller maps with all the eye candy & tension though, so i'm not complaining! well except last night - not one person played the small maps and I hung around for ages on a server trying to start one..

I think I know what he means though, if you can guess where your target will pop up then you arent moving the scope much. Little movement = high accuracy
I think thats how sensitive the magnified scopes might be, just moving the crosshair about upsets it
krekc, whats your system spec?
I prefer the infantry maps too. When I was stuck on a half a gig machine with a radeon 8500le for 6 months, I played jalalabad 64 player on low textures.
That map is especially low on textures and thats what is the cause of the dam awful lag you can get even with good ping
I prefer infantry maps anyway but Ive no idea which of the pr maps uses the least memory really since I have 2 gig now and they feel similar. I can tell you that Qwai seems to be a higher load then Kashan though.
Give me a pm if you need company on a smaller size infantry map, I wish 64p size map was a little less common.
I discovered TG has a script on their POE server that will dynamically alter the map size used to match the server numbers, sounds great to me

That's basically it in a nutshell. In another thread a dev said it would be refined, which is no surprise surely. Overall I think they achieved what they wanted
Out of curiosity, does anyone know what the regular rifles are zeroed at? Are they 600m as well?

That is the slickest way of saying "Looks like I'm going to have to start camping" that I have ever seen. lol! "New predictive aim approach"[/quote]
not at all - it just means aiming where you think the person is going to be in a few seconds (predictive), so that when you shoot hopefully the deviation is minimum, rather than following the person as they walk/run firing at them with deviation active..

She's an old girl now! not to worry though I can play on all high with about 30 players, if I reduce some settings that goes up to about 48. I will drop you a PM indeed, I waited ages on one of the 16 player servers last night about 30min's - then 5 clan members joined and I had to leave, talk about raged! so i'll drop you a pm, hopefully I should get on for an hour or so this evening when I get a bit of peace and quiet..
