GENERAL TIPS/TRICKS/TACTICS
After playing this for about a week, I've come up with quite a few things that work well, and I'm sure many of you have to, so this is a good thread to post some of your tricks/trips.
Please make sure your tip/trick/tactic hasn't already been said.
-In urban areas, if you're running across the street, fire in the direction of the enemy from the hip (especially on maps like Karkand), as ammo is often plentiful, and it might put someone's head down/ACTUALLY hit them.
-EVERYONE IN THE SQUAD should make an effort to pin the enemy squad down. Too often the medics take the occasional potshots, or just lie down and revive the supports, who are getting blown away by the enemy squad. From what I've noticed, only one squad is pinned down at a time. It's either you constantly shooting at them, or them constantly shooting at you. In order to get the advantage (meaning having you shoot at them while they have their heads down), everybody should stand up for a few seconds (while the squad's support lays it down) and put about 5 or 6 shots at the enemy squad. You don't nessecarily have to take care to aim your shots exactly, but 5 or 6 swift shots in their direction might hit somebody, but at the very least will keep them down.
-IMPORTANT: PLEASE, TURN YOUR SETTINGS TO "ENGLISH VO ONLY" IN THE 'SOUND' TAB UNDER 'OPTIONS'. It may be a bit of an immersion killer, but at least you don't have to read every single thing that is said. Too many times, I've played MEC (I already have this option checked), and the rest of the squad doesn't even realize that the flag behind us has been capped, because they don't speak Arabic, and missed the text! The same applies to getting Ammo-- I spent 40 seconds standing in front of our support man saying "I need ammo!" before getting ammo. Instead, he heard: "ت للاطلاع على آخر الأخبار والأنباء العاجلة وطائفة " the whole time! It decreases reaction times between squad orders when this happens.

great points magicman!! yes all squad members need to pop up to expose the enemy to multiple targets, otherwise its easy pickings for them. and yes your right, once your squad wins fire supremacy, it becomes easy to flank, or charge their position and grenade.

main roads are bad for infintry and even more so for veicles when there are air planes. stay off them and streats in urban combat.
also after killing a guy throw a nad on him so the medic goes up when he trys to revive him if u can, repeat if there is another medic or shoot him fast
if u can get in to a sqad that dose not have your kit.
dont be afraid to shoot back if there spraying at you, they proably miss and you can get them to go down (then get you sqad out of there with out being seen. let them move up out of postion and then blow them away (and if u can leave c4 at you old spot for a suprise if they come to see what hapned or to get your cover)

Ok, now im sure running arcross the street while your buddies cover you sounds good and all, but thats a no no. At any corner an enemy may be slowly peeking out, inch by inch. This renders them invincible agianst your men. Now throwing smoke down will help prevent this, but you need proper security. Generally, USM fireteams consist of a Assault (Fireteam Leader), Medic, anti tank (or special ops), and support gunner. As you approach the road your 1st 2 men take an over and understance. The 1st man crouches while the 2nd is standing. This can also be a prone/crouch, just make sure not to bump your buddy
. You need to have your gunner watch the rear and your 3rd man watch out to the side and front. After the fireteam leader deems it clear to move across or the enemy has been supressed, your last 2 move across the street and supress the enemy. You only need 2 men fireing, so have your other two watch the sides and back. Your 1st 2 now can move across or the team can move down the street, 2 on each side. These are tactics calledbounding overwatch/ roadside security.

Yeah bounding/leap frogging is defiantly a tactic I try to use and occasionally the rest of my squad will know what the hell I'm doing. It would be nice if there was a "Cover Me" voice message and a "Clear!" voice message ("Cover me" would be useful for bounding, reviving players, going to support team mates (with medical supplies or ammo) and the "clear!" would be useful with clearing areas/rooms.)

Most of all - trust your teammates. That probably sounds really stupid, but hear me out.
In the real army, you have to trust your allies. Without doubt.
On the virtual battlefield, you've never met these people before - how do you know they are trustworthy? The simple answer is, you can't! But if you trust them and they trust you, Its a standard and things can get done.
If you falsely put your trust in them, then thats not your fault - move on and find someone better to cover your *** in the field.
Trust your troops to carry out your orders,
Trust your SL to give you appropriate and common sense orders,
Trust the man standing next to you to cover you while you reload.
I had a good and bad example of trust yesterday.
Playing Karkand, I was desperately low on ammo and fell back to the closest Support guy nearby, who was also the Squad Leader. I stood there and asked for ammo. No answer.
Asked again. No answer. He wasn't doing anything in particular. Then I saw a US guy come round the corner - If my AK actually had ammo, he would have died. But as I was, all I had was a knife and my wits. No chance. He cut down pretty much all of the squad.
A good example of this: Assualting the last base on Karkand as US, i was cut down as I ran across the road, rather stupidly. No medic in sight, i thought.. 30 seconds to wait. But one of my squad members, a support (i've forgotten your name, sorry) ran out under fire, swapped kits and saved me.
But it goes on - we ran to cover, me thanking him and I began to supress the enemy with his M249 which he swapped with me. I ran out of ammo quite soon (presumably he had been supressing them moments before and used most of the clip) and I had to get back behind the sandbags to reload. Without a second thought, he rolled out and began taking over firing with the M16 he swapped with me. As soon as I was finished, he came back in and I went back out again.
Its those little things that make this mod just amazing. We didn't speak but just did it, acting on instinct - and trusting each other. So i thank whoever that was, it was amazing.

-Learn to throw grenades with less force (using the right mouse button). Practice, and it will come in handy, because sometimes a whole squad could be behind a dumpster or a wall, or even on a building and if you learn to get that throw just right, you can land it right in their lap and make grenade salad.

The key is to pretend you are there and you dont want to die. Dont do stupid shit and take stupid risks.
The other day on SAK2 I was on the northern area near where the MEC can roll in from their main. I see an APC comming down the road and I turn and run and tell my squad mates as im running via voip that an apc is comming. 2 or three went forward to meet the apc with bullets and died and the rest paid little attention to my warning. I continue to run hearing them getting poped by HE rounds and right before my death I hopped over a wall and jumped down a level just as the rounds impacted the wall I jumped over. I lived and laughed my *** off.
That reminded me of the T-shirt that says "If you see me running, try to keep up!" LOL

-If you see a medic near a corpse, don't bother going to revive it yourself. Often times, if someone dies, you have 5 medics running towards him from different directions, 3 of whom die, and the rest die in the resulting scramble to revive them! The nearest guy is more than capable of reviving him, don't waste your life.
