What do you mean by "base raping"? Right or wrong?

Post by BeerHunter »

If it's what I think it is , it's simply attacking the enemies base camp (sometimes referred to as "spawn camping").

Confusion arises because some servers allow it while others don't.

Those that do simply say that all is fair in war and it's your responsibility to remove annoying attackers and protect your base.

Those that don't simply say if you do , you can be kicked or banned.

So,who's right and why??

Spawn Camping is gey, where all you do is soley go to kill ppl spawning. Thou Attacking the enemy base, mainly to saboturge vehicles etc there is a good thing. If we dont want you to attack the enemy base, we would put a dome of death around it :)

in real war we dont cap flags and respawn and yer i agree with that its your fault if you cant defend your own base, come on just recently the British, USA and ANA done a "base rape" irl cant remember the town they attacked but if it was in game it would have been classed as base raping lol.

Not that I disagree with you but , don't airfields have AA weapons that could be manned?

Isn't a tank sitting out in the open without any ground support easy picking for a HAT crew??

Just some observations.

it's like the offside rule in football - some people just don't get it, after all its a game. i've no problem playing on servers that allow it and those that don't, if it's out of control nothing empties a server faster.

Some people are to sensitive.

- Screamming spawncaming when they got shot on there RP, FB or Bunker even if the enemy is hardly trying to destroying that spawnpoint.
- Whine about baseraping if the attacker shooting from there last cappable flag .
- Tell it baseraping if you desroy there vehicles when they driving to front and already 900m away from there mainbase.
- There are people who say instantly baserape if they got a flag grey in the back even if there mainflag is already grey and couldn't spawn anymore.

My definition of baserape is a squad or solo player (usually sniper or marksman) sitting camping an uncappable base, picking off troops as they spawn.

Asset destruction hit & run (spec-ops style) is acceptable... as long as they hit AND run. Obviously, if someone spawns when you're in-base doing the sabotage then you take them out but you shouldn't hang around racking up kilss when you've completed the mission.

It's really common sense.

Not if you are getting shot as soon as you spawn, and even more impossible due to the new HAT system.

One thing that i really hate.. that many think is acceptable, is destroying spwaned assets before they are even mounted or used.

Example..On Kashan Desert.. US Apache spawns and the 1st thing the crew does is fly to MEC Outpost and destroy any parked Tanks, APCs & AAVs.

This kind of base raping i find totally out of caracter with fair fun gaming. There is no skill or challenge involved.. and the argument that you are eliminating enemy future threats just doen't wash with me.

This tactic is reserved for people who cant kill a manned threat... pathetic.

(maybe ok in a match or scrim.. but not on a public server)

AA isn't an "I win" button against aircraft and a HAT isn't an "I win" button against a tank. It's not simple idiots who are doing base raping, it's people who know how to win, and that means they know how to play the game.

Base raping is lame, assets should be used to capture points and advance the frontline, not used to mercilessly kill people as they spawn in what should be a well defended base. I don't like it, but it's up to the devs if they want to stop it or not, for now I just play on servers that ban it.

Baserape is the lamest thing currently present in PR.

It's nice that the baseraper has 'fun', but what about me ?
I want to have fun too and I don't consider dying 1 second after respawn as some sort of entertainment.

And BTW, I just totally love the comments "it's your fault, you gotta defend it!".
Wake up people!
We're still playing on the same engine - 32 vs. 32 players. Do you seriously wanna have half of your team defending the main just because some dude is having 'fun' by shooting anything that moves.

In some cases it can be a legit tactic, in others it's simply not fair in terms of gameplay. It can be legit if you're sabotaging enemy assets at the enemy's main base, though at the same time it can really suck if you waited long enough for your tank or helicopter to spawn, only to have some guy with H-AT in the hills take it out. Spawncamping in somewhat different in that the moment you spawn some guy kills you. This can unavoidable at times like when the player spawns on a rally, bunker or firebase when the enemy finds it. But it really sucks when the opponents decide to sit and wait for people to continue spawning there rather than destroy the asset.

Though if anything, I prefer servers that only allow you to attack mainbases when you have all other flags captured. Otherwise, it just seems like a method for causing other players grief. All may be fair in war, but this is a game, show some sportsmanship.

The way I see it, correct me if its wrong.

In real life. "oh, they are attacking our main." Brings in airsupport and back up.

In PR, "oh they are attacking our main". Cannot get any back up or support as all the vehicles are down, almost impossible to spawn and the other part of the team is stuck on the other side of the map.

Your team did something wrong if they doesn't took that assets at the beginning of the round.
It has a reason that they only spawn once and the RP does expire after 5 minutes.

Yeah, that's what I define as baserape. Lame, lame, lame.

Taking your balls in your hand and going into an enemy base on foot or in a Hummer/Landy/similar as part of a dedicated sabotage squad to SLAM/C4 assets is a different kettle of fish altogether.

MadTommy has a point though: at what point in time is this an acceptable tactic? Difficult to implement without a stopwatch and players that play fair.... and the whole point of the topic is about tards that don't play fair.

The only pathetic thing is that the MEC team would have unmanned armor at the outpost by that time. It seems fair, especially since there are at least two mobile AA that spawn there.

Its a GAME

 you have totally missed my point.

that was an example. Killing unmanned assets in uncappable bases is pathetic.

Then give me a good example of assets that doesn't spawn in the mainbase.
Your current example is just amiss.
