Actually there is a single player mode. I am suprised that two people would feed you bad information without even exploring the PR forums. Community modding is where this mod breathes people!

Single player has not been completed for 0.7 yet, however some of the 0.6 maps are setup for single player. The files and details are all in the sub-forum I linked to.
