RTFM. Why was such a glorious acronym created, you sir.
I loled at the "spliff" part, but other than that the Manual has all your answerers, and the DEVs did take the time to create one so people such as yourself could learn about the mod the easy way. They have done quite a bit to help "noobs" ease into this mod, as it is complicated. Also your friend should have told you about the manual.
Ridiculous things like bleeding in a tank, are covered in the manual, and after you read it, it becomes clear why you bleed and why it is not "ridiculous".

Ok, I get the "new" and though to talk on voip. Hope you have a very manly voice. Then it's all sorted right there.

default is actually xLeadMagnet wrote:We had 2 new players in my squad last night. After explaining that to use armor you have to get a crewmen kit (hit T and "request kit") and how to use the zoom on the main gun (default key "c") we were off. The trick is to find a squad that is actually communicating on VOIP. I still have that issue and I've been playing for awhile now. Also, best tip is to find a good server and stick with it. You can normally find me in the TCombat server in the evenings. Have a peek at the manual (a great deal has changed even from .6 and I'd highly suggest you give it a browse before going online again).
Other than that, have fun.

Theres just one thing that I hate about new guys that play this game, killing your team intentionally or unintentionally.
Loading up a full chopper and giving it full throttle from the start then crashing shows your ignorance.
It's no secret that bf2v nubs run to the aircraft first then think later, it's primal instinct. But what they fail to think about is ruining someone else's fun that they get from the game, just because they're too lazy to read a couple pages of text.
Does that make them a bad person? No. Does that make them ignorant? Yes.

If they RTFM they'd not run into the aircraft problem.
Anyone who understands the basic control setup of a WASD-shooter, reads the manual, is mature, and has a basic grasp of what infantry do and why (or better yet, anyone who was in the service), will have no problems jumping straight into this mod. They may not win, or even do very well, but they won't be doing completely boneheaded things.
On the higher order of gameplay, some people really do need to learn to work as a team. In an environment were Angry Smelly Bearded Men are shooting at you, this generally means someone needs to be in charge. Making the wrong decision and doing it together as a group is often better than making no decision at all as individuals.

Think we've all had bad experiences with PRM and all the other online games as well. It's the nature if the internet. It's public.
These guys are right. Though “RTFM” is wee bit terse it is true that a lot of your questions (and probably some others that haven’t cropped up yet) would be answered in there. It’s an interesting read. Beats the hell out of Harry Potter.
PRM is probably unlike any other FPS you’ve ever played and the learning curve is steep.
You may play 24 hours and out of those 24 hours, 20 of them will seem like DoD/CS all over again but there are those 4 hours in a cohesive squad that works together that are the magic of PRM and keep players coming back.
Don’t give up hope yet.

The manual beats HP? Are you kidd... Ok. Read the manual. And when you have done so, remember to sneer at anyone new - "read the fucking manual" with pride.
Then again, I remember one match where half of the "veterans of PR" ended up reading up on the finer points of PR in the manual. Was that 10 or 50 in ticket cost? Hmmm ... lets see.

Getting killed for entering a tank without the crewman kit is supposed to be realistic?Threedroogs wrote:like it's been said 20 times in this thread, you need to read the manual. there isnt any "back of the tank" that you speak of. you needed a crewman kit to be in there. this is why you were killed. this is in the manual and is not "weird shit", it's the rules of the game.

Agree it would be better to simply let you sit there but not be able to operate it , or not even allow you to enter.Hardee wrote:Getting killed for entering a tank without the crewman kit is supposed to be realistic?
Don't know if that's a code problem , an oversight or possibly even to prevent smacktards from hopping in and just sitting there so no one can use it.
RO won't allow you to enter a tank without the proper "kit" but there's no penalty for trying.

Death was the only way to learn eejits who would get into a vehicle with the wrong kit and then sit and complain that the game was borked.. simple solution so someone with half a notion could get their place.. see?

indeed, PR does have quite a tough learning circle, but like most things in life, you get out what you put in. Get in a teamwork orientated squad/team, make use of rally points and the right kits, and its by far and away the best computer game/simulation there is.Death was the only way to learn eejits who would get into a vehicle with the wrong kit and then sit and complain that the game was borked.. simple solution so someone with half a notion could get their place.. see?
Get a bad lot and it will be terrible. simple as that.
Also, imo the getting killed in a tank for the wrong kit is the best way to ensure people dont just sit in a tank/plane etc.

there are warning messages, they didn't really work.. death was the simplest answer tbh..Hardee wrote:A simple message with "you cannot drive the tank without a Crewman kit" would be nice. But then I assume this would not be called realistic... well death isn't either.

Okay wtf is your problem really? THERE IS A MESSAGE saying that you need a crewman kit to operate the tank in the upper left corner when you enter a tank without the crewman kit. Yes dying coz you dont have it if unrealistic, but then we would have lots of morons sitting in tanks without the crewman kit and just stopping their team from using the tank.Hardee wrote:A simple message with "you cannot drive the tank without a Crewman kit" would be nice. Please read the damn manual, its there for a reason
