Hardee mate, I appreciate you're trying to learn to ropes of the game, but have you read the manual yet, as others here have requested before you begin mouthing off "Well there should be this then, not that!"?
Because things you're suggesting ARE there, such as the CREWMAN message (Top left)
**QM** <Player>, you need a CREWMAN kit to use this vehicle position.
or:
**QM** <Player>, you must be in the same squad as <Player 2> to use this vehicle position.
Why does death ensue not having a crewman kit? 2 reasons:
1.) Learn by association (If they learn that entering tanks kills them; they'll soon find out what WON'T kill them entering tanks)
2.) Stops people sitting in them when a tank-crew is waiting infront of it to use it.
Project Reality - not keen on new players

Okay guys, please remember that Hardee is basically looking for answers and help here.
Anyone using inappropriate language or smacktalking new players *will* get warned and depending how arrogant they sound, possibly publically mocked and called out, too.
Be a nice community, or else

^^Indeed. If i hadn't sighed that "i'll be nice to new ppl" thinggy, i would probably find out where this guy lives and pay him a visit
...to tell him to read the manual (and maybe cut his balls off if he would refuse)

Shame I missed you! I started on 10th mountains then shifted to iGi.
I'll be on iGi tonight from around 2200Z. If you want any help, or to ask any questions, join my squad or shout if it's full and I'll leave squad and make one for you.

We had a funny moment last night.
tank commander to the engineer:
#cue sounds of tank exploding over the voice comm as it takes another hit

Best advice is, if your new at least be honest about it.
Maybe there should be more video type guides as to the differences between PR and normal bf2 for us lazy people ( i never read the manual till months after starting pr)
tank commander to the engineer:
I asked you ten minutes ago to repair the tank, what the hell are you doing sitting there
I parked next to you, arent you repaired yet
No, Im not repaired at all. You need to get your *** out the truck and actually use the wrench you flaming idiot.
Ok no need to get upset

One major difficulty we have with developing PR is that a lot of what we have added to BF2 was never really intended to be done on the engine and with the available mod tools provided by EA / DICE. In fact the majority of the game play changes we have made don't use any of the EA mod tools, they are done through a back door that was never really intended to be as open as we've blown it.
I'd love it if we could create a nice screen when you go near an APC letting you know what seats are available and what "qualifications" you need for those seats (if any) .. then have a nice screen in the armory or bunker where you can select the right kit.... but none of that is within the "modability" of BF2.
So we hacked in some very creative approaches that enable us to achieve the game play objectives, but are not very user friendly for the uninitiated. Game Play is our #1 priority, so a few ugly things that can be overcome with a read of the manual and a few rounds with a good squad are things the team collectively and organically has determined we can live with.
Enjoy and thanks for the constructive posts

Glad you enjoyed it - [T&T] run one of the best UK servers out there, and is my regular haunt. Look foward to seeing you on the server sometimeHardee wrote:...Thankfully not all the PR players are smacktalking teenagers like the above two posters, as I learned last night where I had a cracking game on the tactics and teamwork server.
And now in the interests of ending on a postive note, thread's gunna get locked to prevent more smacktalk starting up. Hope that's ok with the OP, lemme know via private message if you want it left open instead.
