Make tank drivers have a delay just like gunners...

Post by Artnez[US] »

Ninja2dan made a great post in the 0.7 feedback forum and mentioned that it would make sense for drivers to have a delay as well. I agree... so much so that I wanted to create a thread for it in the Suggestions forum.

You can't just hop into an Abrams and roll out within seconds. It should take some time for everything to go online, computer systems, for the engine to power up, etc .. just like you did with choppers.

This would virtually eliminate all solo tankers and create a sense of commitment once you hop into a tank.

It doesn't have to be as long as helos though... it could be 10 seconds and that would do the job.

Tanks are a VERY destructive force in PR and are very hard to destroy if you don't have the tools to do the job. Giving that kind of power to a single player who most of the time will get the tank destroyed is unfair to the rest of the team. Tanks should be given to those that are willing to put the work into using it to reap the benefits of destruction!

Agreed.

I, too, agree with this. If there was a 30 second wait to to drive the tank, and a 30 second wait to gun, that would severely discourage solo tankers.

Although, would you agree with a "Cold Start" protocol like in Falcon 4.0 for the airplanes where it takes 11 minutes at the least to start up, get the turbines warm, warm up the various radars so they respond right, arm your weapons systems, etc, and then 20 minutes later start flying?

+1

The 360* driver's view is a BIG advantage already; I hate sneaking up on a tank only to be spotted and run over by the *******.

Driver delay was suggested and tried about a year ago (before .6). If I remember, the dev coders said they couldn't make it work correctly; the delay caused some very weird and undesirable results.
