Tank Gunner kit.

Hi every one, since the o.708 release, you now have to wait 30 second to use the Tank turret, but, as far i seen, that dont stop solo tanking, so i suggest to create a Driver kit and a Gunner kit, since Gunship dont have this probleme ( most of the time people rush for use it ) forcing people to got a gunner in they're tank.

That will solve the probleme of solo tanking nicely.Giving them the same skin as the crewman but just specialise there role...

What if your driver disconnects mid-game?

Very constuctive post with well thought out arguments.

TBH, i would rather see this than the 30 sec turret delay, but this adds yet another layer of complexity to the game that is arguably not needed. But, if its a choice between that and more handicaps on gunning/driving to discourage solo-tanking I would probably support it.

EDIT: not aimed at you, Artnez.

In response to your post, if my gunner/driver disconnects, i usually try to pull back to a flag and get another squad memeber. Alot better than if your pilot disconnects in a heli though... :D

While I support the idea, however...

It'd be harder to organize who's driving and who's gunning at the beginning. Since often times everybody are talking all at once and usually whichever seat one managed to get first would be the one he operates in for the rest of the tank's lifespan, as people would all try to claim a tank for their squad ASAP. Also, how do you know if your team would have a balance amount of gunners and drivers to properly operate the tanks without clogging up the chat? If most of tankers wanted to gun we'd have all gunners and no drivers, and don't forget how long it takes for you to request another kit, meaning they wouldn't be able to switch to driver kit even if they wanted to. Whole lot of frustrations would be introduced if you ask me.

Question: IRL say you're driver gets killed- what's stopping the gunner being able to drive?

The kind of behaviour of solo tankers is the same as base rapers or lone wolves. Somthing you simply shouldn't do: a good admin is whats needed in this situation.

What would be really good is if the tanks can't fire without a driver as well ROFL

It wasnt implemented to stop solo tanking but it was to put solo tankers at a disadvantage and they now are. You will never stop soloing in vehicles for various reasons but you should at least give those who fully man vehicle a significant advantage.

Limiting the game until stupid things aren't going to happen is impossible. It's better to have good admins than to try and regulate everything within the mod by changing it.

i think this is a perfectly feasable solution.. cant fire tank without driver...
