Add the AN 94 Abakan
I was thinking that maybe you guys could add the AN 94 Abakan for the MEC spec ops and replace the AK 74. Here is some info on the abakan and a video of it firing.

I second this. This gun would be kickass to use, and would silence many of the gripes of the community that the AKs are too inferior to US arms. Especially if you could actually code it so the 2 shot burst happens before the recoil does. it kicked *** in POE, and I think its realistic if we are gonna be adding some heckler and koch weapons to them anyways.

I disagree, it shouldn't be added to the game, there is no way a Middle Eastern nation would get enough of these to supply it to all their troops (or spec ops guys, who ever it is given to).
If the devs are looking for a good SMG to give them, the UZI is a great one to give, and its about as wide spread around the world as the AK-47.
The only H&K Weapons they (the MEC, if that's who you're talking about) should be getting are older weapons like the HKG3A3 and possibly the HK33A2. The arms that the MEC should be given should be older Russian weapons (the Ak47/74/M, etc) and older US weapons (like the old M16A1 or the first M16).Figisaacnewton wrote:if we are gonna be adding some heckler and koch weapons to them anyways.

And it's produced right there in the middle east.
Personally, I think all the MEC weapons should be switched to versions that fire the 7.62x39mm Soviet round. Instead of the RPK-74 (which fires a newer, smaller 5.45x39mm round), it should be the original RPK (RPK-47, if you like) or even the old RPD. Instead of the AK-101, which fires 5.56mm NATO rounds, it should be the AK-103, which fires the 7.62x39mm round. Instead of the AKS-74U, which fires the same round as the RPK-74, it should be either the AKMSU or the AK-104, a compact version of the AK-103.
Save the AN-94 for the Russians.

RealMedia, played in RealPlayer. It's a POS, don't download it. If you must see an .rm file, try RealAlternative.{YBBS}Sage wrote: What the hell file type is .rm? I can't open it. (Can't we all just use Quicktime?)

The AK-10# are all built for export, not domestic use. If the oil-rich countries pool their resources together to upgrade everyone's equipment, it wouldn't be hard at all to standardize the AK-103 and Ak-104 for all front-line troops, especially since they already have tons of the 7.62x39mm ammo all over the place.Raptor wrote:Don't even give them the AK-10# series anyway, because those are all really new Russian Army weapons, I doubt many of those are out and about, especially in the Middle East.

I agree, remember, the Middle Eastern Coalition could be a bunch of the "oil-rich" countries that have banded together to protect their interests from a US invasion. They could have plenty of money to outfit their armies with what they saw fit.Xeno426 wrote:The AK-10# are all built for export, not domestic use. I bet the UAE, if they wanted to, could afford to get these guns for their troops.Raptor wrote:I disagree, it shouldn't be added to the game, there is no way a Middle Eastern nation would get enough of these to supply it to all their troops (or spec ops guys, who ever it is given to).
Have to remember, the MEC Forces != Insurgents of today - they are a future Army of a middle-eastern country. We have no idea what kind of money or resources they may or may not have...
EDIT: I get the Dead-Horse award since I didn't read the second page before posting...

yes I think we're getting confused here. The MEC side, from the original BF2 storylline, are NOT insurgents, they are a proffesional army drawn together from various 'small' nations (millatary wise) The states are wealthy (not the people).
And many of those countries do have a lot of western arms, mixed with russian stuff
Saudis' have Tornado's etc, Oman has Brit Tanks etc (although they are quite freindly with us)
Infact that is the only way the Middle Eastern countries could compete with the US and China.
I would love to see new armies in PRMM though, like the insurgents from Spec Ops.

I would love to see the Russians added, or the Franco-German alliance (I can't seem to recall what its name was).Peter-SAS wrote: I would love to see new armies in PRMM though, like the insurgents from Spec Ops.
An insurgence group would be trick to do. Realistically, they would have equipment that is far inferior to anything the US or China would be fielding, but would be extremely difficult to weed out. It would be much easier if there were actually civvies running around city maps, as it would prevent the Americans (or Chinese, or whomever) from simply opening fire and dropping bombs everywhere, and the Insurgence would look just like the civvies. Asside from the obvious problems of game performance, there's the ethical issue that many people have with innocent civilians running around a map, easily killed.

Russia would be a great addition to Project reality. They are the ones, who realistically, would be using the t-90's not the MEC or PLA. Give more older and weaker t-72's and t-80's to the Chinese and PLA as I don't see Russia selling them their new main battle tanks. As for the weapons, the PLA could easily afford decent weapons for their troops.
Russia would also be a great candidate for fighting China as well as the PLA. One scenario could be China invades siberia to take control of an oilfield in battle and Russia must regain it and push the PLA back.
The same could be done for the MEC and Russia except off course in kazakhstan or the surrounding area for oil as well. Another more touchy subject could be that MEC forces have went into Chechnya to liberate it's Muslim poppulace from the Russian infidels.
I'm glad russia isn't way to far behind in Millitary technology. I myself was born in the former USSR (specifically Moldova, the poorest nation in Europe woohoo!) and I guess I am still a bit emotionally attached to it.

Well, they've already sold the T-90S to the Indians, Pakistan is developing a tank that has lots of its technological base in the T-90, and China already has a new MBT (Type 98 ). The MEC could use Pakistan's new tank, the Al-Khalid, and give the T-90 to Russia. Additionally, instead of the BTR-90, the MEC could use the Egyptian Fahd-30 AFV, built by the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI).lonelyjew wrote:Russia would be a great addition to Project reality. Not so much afford as force the industry to sell the weapons to them at whatever price they set (controlled economy and all).
The MEC would also be quite able to afford some high quality equipment for its troos. Oil is black gold, you know.
When did the PLA declare independence? Or do you mean Taiwan?lonelyjew wrote:Russia would also be a great candidate for fighting China as well as the PLA.
Just joshing with ya.
Especially with US forces occupied with the MEC, it would be the perfect opportunity to attack Russia. Besides, I don't know about you guys but I'd like to see Russia on the side of the 'good' guys for once, instead of always being portrayed as the 'bad' guys. As a side note, I'd like to see maps that don't revolve around "America vs the World." That kind of **** just sickens me.lonelyjew wrote:One scenario could be China invades siberia to take control of an oilfield in battle and Russia must regain it and push the PLA back.
While they aren't far behind in terms of technology (and in some cases are ahead), they are certainly behind in their ability to properly field it. I think, for the sake of the mod, we can assumed that in the future Russia has instituted it's own "New Deal" and managed to pull itself out of its economic depression.lonelyjew wrote:I'm glad russia isn't way to far behind in Millitary technology.
