Atmosphere ideas

Post by Silvarius2000 »

Hi everyone,

Just stumbled on some videos with some pretty interesting audio effects that I think would inspire some Mappers and sound guys.

Footage in an Abrams during operations.

LiveLeak.com - US Marines being shot at by insurgents in Iraq
Sound of an RPG close shot.

LiveLeak.com - US Marines ambush insurgents in a building.
Interesting footage on the use of a SMAW (he fires 9mm ranging rounds before firing)

LiveLeak.com - US Marines are attacked from all sides, as they defend with everything they have! Ramadi, Iraq
Intense firefight in a surrounded outpost

LiveLeak.com - US Marines are ambushed in downtown Ramadi, Iraq.
Awesome footage of being ambushed in a humvee

LiveLeak.com - US Marines are ambushed on a dark road in Ramadi, Iraq.
Within an ambush

Hope you guys enjoy.

That's a negative ghostrider, patterns full.

Can't use gunshot sounds from videos. Especially not streamed videos, way too much compression.

I think Jaymz had been doing a great job for the gun fire audio in the mod. I love the "pop" and "crack" effects used for gun fire at far range. With maybe a bit a tweaking for future releases, we'll have a very good in game experience.
