Im just curious, but do you really take me as some stupid "noob"? Ive been playing PR since .04, and the file downloading has always been a huge pain, but I went through with it anyways. With each new release growing in size, the download time increases. Battlefield only transfers maybe about 500kb information (possibly even 1mb) every second while in online gameplay, And my internet can easily handle that......wait, YOU say I have to have internet where I can download a 1gb+ file relatively fast? It ain't happenin' sweetheart.
Now, as with xfire....it directly links the computers, and with bittorrent and website downloads, the file has to go from the provider's pc, to the upload/download server, then to the reciever pc. Do the math.

No, you don't get a faster connection with Xfire or other tools that create a virtual local network. Actully it would be even worse.
Your Download speed would be limited to the upload speed of the other user.
You can't get over your maximum connection speed!
How did got the idea of a 300 times faster connection through such tools?
Btw:
No, BF2 dosen't even come close to 500KB/s - 1000KB/s. The peak value is 16KB/s when you play on a full 64 server. The average value is 12KB/s.

Since you're asking: Yes.cfschris wrote:Im just curious, but do you really take me as some stupid "noob"?
The mark of a true pro is totally pulling random numbers out of your *** and passing off incorrect facts. Also, had you actually taken the advice given to you earlier and used a download manager or bittorrent, you'd have PR by now!

You have utterly no idea how the internet and file transfers works do ya there little buddy? Think of it this way. If I am sitting here making fun of you, and its just you and me in a room, the rate at which I can make fun of you is maybe 1 insult per second. You have no problem understanding the insult as you can hear and process things (download) a whooole lot quicker than I can speak (upload).
Now, lets take that and increase it to everybody in the thread making fun of you, which is about, lets say, conservatively, 200. So, now its 200 people in the room all insulting you at 1 insult per second, which is the net equivalent of, 200 insults per second, many more insults than just little old me with a direct connection to you. Sooooooooo more people = more insults per second.
Now lets say your little brain can only handle 10 insults per second. Well with just me insulting you, you are only receiving at 1 ips (insult per second). But with the 200 people, and a total possible rate of 200 ips, you can achieve your maximum rate of 10 ips. That way, you get around the limit that I, or anyone else, can hurl insults at you (1 ips) but taking insults from lots and lots of me's. \o/ Everybody wins.

Many thanks!
Does the "56" stand for the 56k modem you're using?
There are plenty of file link out there. I'm sure you'll find a fast one.

just a little shady IMO. Why are you so adamant to get someone to direct connect? Bite the bullet and spend the days or weeks or whatever it is going to take you to download it from a faster source.....which probably by the time you are done another fabulous release will be out and you can start downloading that!

With that kind of attitude, I doubt anybody would transfer you anything now.cfschris wrote:You think you're hot sh*t, don't you?

yeah pretty much. And given the previous thread about me always being right, things aren't shaping up to well for ya. I also noticed you didn't post your numbers from dslreports, nor refute any of the statements I made. Good job losing the argument, now kindly take our advice and go dl PR.cfschris wrote:You think you're hot sh*t, don't you?

I was here for the good old days, back when PR really was a mini-mod. Infinite? Of course not! You clearly don't understand just how large an infinite amount really is. While I'm apparently smarter than you when it comes to this stuff, I accept the fact there are people that are better than me.cfschris wrote:Yup, and I bet you're a fountain of infinite technological wisdom yourself, being such a ripened old member here.
Oh! You're being sarcastic. For somebody wanting help and getting some good advice, you're not nice at all. The dream is over, *****. Pack your bags and be out by the weekend.
Also, double posting is for noobs. Make one count. \o/

If anyone in this thread seems like a stuck up ******* that's acting like they know everything, it's you. Hypocrisy isn't cool.cfschris wrote:Well, No one enjoys it when stuckup A-holes act like they know everything.
We answered your question with actual knowledge and logical thinking. Hell, one guy even popped up a screenshot of his bandwidth usage to show you what was going on. You tell us we're wrong because [RANDOM MORONIC INCORRECT INFORMATION HERE], that you simply pulled out of your ***. What gives, little buddy? We don't pretend to know more than we do, why do you have to?
Why do you hate people that know more than you?
Also, the question has been answered. How about that thread lock?

Couldnt have said it better myself. Jesus, guys. Why on earth is this thread still even getting new posts. Threads like this are needed to be A. helped out and solved in 2 seconds or B. just ignored.Kinote wrote: How about that thread lock?

Download PR or find a place at home to download it, add it to an external and get it to your PC. Its NOT gonna go faster with Xfire, listen to me. Listen to them. Listen to your heart. There's nothing else you can do.
