All soldiers except Insurgents get equivalent body armor, although militia soldiers get a reduced version. This is realistic because body armor is one of the most cost effective pieces of gear an army can buy. For a few hundred bucks a military can make sure their insurgents can survive the easiest and most damaging shots (excluding those to the head) that will fired at them. When i mentioned about shooting someone through the heart, it was a PLA soldier, and it was from behind, now im not certain but chinese soldiers dont have ceramic armour, never mind on their back.
Sniping and bullet damage. Reality?

In RL: Depends on the round, target etcetc
In PR: Yeah, you probably got bad hit detection.

How long might it take to animate an action similiar to the one I described, and how much skill will it take?markonymous wrote:actually this isnt impossible... this is very possible with the engine the only thing is that PR needs animators. They can for example animate you having to stabilize you weapon before shooting. you dropping you weapon and crashing to the ground when hit by a bullet and so on. We could do many great things with animators.

Just to get a fact straight.. The 5.56 currently in use is in fact as you say designed to penetrate (light)body armor, this makes it worse to be hit by a 5.56 round when wearing light body armor. If you are not wearing any body armor at all, the round that was designed to penetrate body armor and then make a mess inside the body is penetrating your body and coming out on the other side not really doing that much damage (as i.e a 7,62x51 would have)....which is common knowledge they can penatrate body armour, although this guy visably wasnt wearing any
The old 5.56 round (vietnam era) was designed to fragment and really tear up on impact thus making it very bad for people without body armor.. this round was replaced by the current because it was easily stopped by even light armor.. blah blah.. sorry for the nitpicking!

My friend just got done with a college video game designing course, I was just wondering if someone fresh out of school with little expirience, except classroom work, could do it. I've seen some of his stuff, and it isn't half bad. I figured this would be a good test of his skill (he graduated in the top 10% of his class, and you gotta have some skill to get that far.Razick wrote:If you had to ask how much skill it takes then I think would take you (along with the majority) quite a bit
lol if I tried to to do this I'd end up committing suicide from frustration. Put me on a designing program and my head will explode.

The military, per the Geneva Convention I think, currently uses full metal jacket (FMJ) rounds. Great against light body armor. Its a bulleted with a layer of hard steel encased around it so it doesn't deform when it hits something soft, but it goes through and through; in one side and out the other on unarmored enemies, unlike jacketed hollow points that expand when they hit.
JHP's have a soft lead core that causes it to mushroom out and decreases the speed of the bullet as it passes through and causes maximum tissue damage as it expands inside the body. But the soft lead core will just absorbs the energey and flattens when it hits the armor.
My statement earlier that a hit to an unarmored limb should kill you would be too much, now that I think of it. However it should take you right to the point where you start bleeding, at least.

Maybe sniping isn't for you, perhaps you should try a different specialisation.beavis.uk^ wrote:I'm not happy at all, i can't enjoy sniping when i miss @ 150m after waiting 5 seconds before the shot with 100% sprint bar, he turns around and fires 2 shots with normal rifle and kills me, so pathetic.
Jaymz;593982']L96 isn't that bad and he wasn't insulting him.
There is no L96 in PR. Nub.

No, really, the L115A1 isn't all that bad. You'll have to let it settle for some time, and then some time after every shot. And remember to aim for the chest to increase chances of a hit. But it could be much better.

There's nothing wrong with snipers. Nothing like having a good shot with an L115A1 covering you when you're clearing a Basrah village and RPG gunners are abundant. But a lot of people don't use the kit like it should be used, and so people hate the kit, not the people that mis-use it.

More guns and bullets make bad guys go away faster,
which in turn makes everyone in the area safer.

Bugged it maybe, but that doesn't stop the fact that sniping may not be for him. Its certainly not for me. And I can't fly or work a grenade launcher. I don't have a problem with that, I just do something else. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who can do all those things but cant drive a tank or clear a room like me.
