More destructable buildings in the future?

Post by Expendable Grunt »

Are you devs going to add more destructable building types in the future (eastern styled ones), or is this found to be unsuitable?

Also, since I'm unfamiliar with the internal workings, is there a way you can make the walls not collapse from .50/12.7 fire?

I think the current amount of destructible buildings is enough. The buildings look really cartoonish compared to other buildings and there are plenty of them on Seven Gates or Qwai (Bunkers, etc.)

I can feel it in my bones

I think its been said that there is a limit to how many user alterable map objects there can be on any one map. Its probably limited by the net and server code

If the AK can split a building block, 50 cal damage seems fair enough with enough effort.

One idea would be a building that must be preserved like a mosque that cannot be damaged. The different insurgents are always trying to blow each others mosque up

we are capped at 1024 networkable objects on a map, that includes vehicles, pickup kits, supply points and destructible objects as well as afew more.

We do have a set of Russian destructible buildings in the mod at the moment, but as matt.b never fully finished them before he went AWOL, they are non-destructible buildings, you can find some of them in the village of FR.

you have no idea how many objects I had to remove from Al Basrah to get it in the limits. Where do you think all thous destructible fish crates etc went?

I bet Basra is the closest, there is a ton of destructible buildings and gates and all sorts on that map. Absolutely tons of insurgent cars now also

I remember in beta going round basra with the attack chopper just trying to blow all the buildings up, it took us ages and we didnt get it all done in the end because the map ended or someone grailed us
