Driver - Gunner view height

Post by FatOne »

I find it unrealistic that in pr, driver is sitting higher than a gunner and so has a better view to his surroundings.

In real life and in real tank, gunner is certainly sitting higher and having atleast same view as the driver, even better one if you ask me.

Suggestion, make gunner to sit higher, so that we would not having this annoying scene, when driver is seeing the enemy while gunner can't see shit.

Thank you!

Ummm, in real life the tank commander's view is from the top. He's not looking through little holes in the tank, he's looking through a camera, so where he's sitting doesn't much matter.

In real life a tank crew consists of 4 people, I think. A driver, a loader, a shooter, and a commander. In this mod they cut in in half by having the shooter and loader be the same person, and the driver and commander be the other person. When you get that higher view than the gunner, its because you are looking from the tank commanders perspective, not the drivers.

Don't take my word to the bank on this, but I am pretty sure that this is why it is like how it is.

Okay, but I think gunner and commander views are the same in real tanks.

Nah, a gunners optics are placed directly above the barrel, and the commanders optics are a lil further back, to the left, and slightly more raised.

Google a picture of a M1A2, and yo will be able to se what I am saying.

Don't answer like that. I mean, come on, have some respect instead of being a smart ***. Tell the guy why he is wrong.

In response to FatOne, the difference between the gunners view and the commanders view is slightly exaggerated, but I dought they will change it. It isn't a neccessary change, and time could be spent doing more valuable work.

OK. Treat it this way. There is no driver in a tank, there is only gunner and a tank commander. The tank commander is telling the (virtual) driver where to go that is why you can drive the tank while being a tank commander.

In PR 0.5 there was a driver and he was sitting inside the hull, but in PR 0.6 and PR 0.7 there is no driver. There is only tank commander and a gunner.

Well, at least that's a nice theory :D

If "the driver" is meant to the commander, I understand the point, but I still think that gameplay would be more pleasant if the commander and gunner could have the same view.

Project Reality, ja ?

Gunners & Commanders DO NOT have the same view in RL

Sure, Commanders dont physicly drive the tank, but wars arn't 32 V 32 either
