Notice the hud for gunning mode, it doesn't change your aimrose. Also when zoomed in the aimrose is bigger then when zoomed out and there are 3 stages of zooms but this isn't really necessary to implant (if possible).
Also remove the static as its not real and if possible and you are appeal enough, make the cam a FLIR green-black camera where green is hot and black cold. But these are just details.. and alot of work..

Im pretty sure they have one, and i think most of the military used helicoptere have one...Mosquill wrote:Why do you want FLIR so much? And I don't even know if Cobra has a FLIR camera, haven't seen any.

I want it because its real and very useful for spotting infantry and vehiclesMosquill wrote:Why do you want FLIR so much? because that shows up in light green or inverted that make it black

Well you can't have everthing that is IRL. I haven't seen any video with Cobra's FLIR, so if there is any, it's not used often. And Apache also uses non-flir camera pretty often. So not having a FLIR camera in game is not that unrealistic after all.Mora wrote:I want it because its real and very useful for spotting infantry and vehicles

Oh and btw apache also have a radar that is able to scan for hostile threats (including ground-based) that are pretty far away. But we don't have that, and it's a realism mod, so why should we have FLIR?

You can make target boxes to be drawn over vehicles, like it was in A10 back in 0.6 (i don't know it it's still like that), that would simulate a radar.Mora wrote:Because the radar isn't possible with BF2 engine, and FLIR is just a option on the choppers and a detail so there isn't a very high need for it. BUT its very useful..
if its too much work don't do it, when its an easy thing to do why not try to make it?
But anyway, what makes you think FLIR is possible with bf2 engine?

Its possible to change the colors. You should make something like this only then in the right colors. And maybe you can switch from normal to FLIR like in tanks.

And sure that would be possible with the radar, but then we can exactly see what is friendly and enemy witch is unrealistic..

Yeah im very agreed whit that. Combat helicoptere have RADAR, if at least it can mark targets alone (put square around them) we gonna have the Most Feared things since the AAV in 0.708...
And for answer Mora, now, in current battlefield, every Eastern army vehicule have a Blue Screen system(GPS based), that told to friendly aircraft whos friendly and where is it.

What that guy did was change the night_vision_gradient.dds and commander_view_gradient.dds files. I haven't looked to see how the cobra/apache files work, but I'll check it out later.
I have found nothing that leads me to believe that the cobra is regularly equipped with FLIR, and even though the apache certainly is, the only time it will really be useful is on nightmaps, which means that it's not really necessary right now in PR.

FLIR is also used in daylight too.... but its in the dark where its usage is optimal.
I just dont see its importance in the game when vision isn't obstructed on all of the daylight maps. If more night maps make there way into rotation I could see where its use would be sweet in the game.
But until then....

Yeah the gunner bar is one of the things that are needed.. but whats with it? Does it not work entirely or does it not react properly. But don't give up maybe a dev can help you out, and the other info of the hud is also important, and don't forget the gun mode witch doesn't have the aimpoint we have now.
