Just wondering what the fascination is with stats, scores and virtual ranks.
Isn't this a reality based game?
If you're on the winning side you get one point for a win. If you're on the losing side you get zero points so you have to suck it up and put in more effort to organize and rally your team.
Or is it easier just to run off , rack up your own score
You performance in the game should be rated on how well you worked as a team member and accomplished the objectives, not how many "points" you rack up. They're easy enough to come by.
Why stats and scores?

check out your stats when you run off alone and then look at them when your in a tight squad and capturing flags building things etc.
We can regularly get to a 6000 point average with a squad of n00bs, non english speaking etc etc just by staying together and doing what needs to be done and yet I see other squads fighting for fecking ages and not getting anything lol
All depends on what you get points for and PR is fiddling it quite nicely... still needs more tweaks but it's getting better as you see more reward for teamwork

I hate how some people assume that if someone cares about points hes automatically a lone wolf vBF2 noob ******* that didnt read the manual and listens to emo bands.
As Cain said teamwork=more points not less. So in a way BeerHunter, your performance in the game is rated on how well you worked as a team member and accomplished the objectives. But you need some numbers to attach to it.
Anyway PR is a competitive game and like any other competitive game (sports, video games etc) it has some kind of points system.
I dont play in good teamwork squads and stick together with my teammates just to get a lot of points. I do it because its more interesting and fun that way. But I still like to see bunch of my green guys (specially *=LP=*) on the scoreboard ranked good for our efforts. Call it sprinkled sugar on top of a good cake.

I'm not saying guys wanting score are bf2 noobs or score makes everyone staying together.
I'm just saying that those BF2 noobs that dont stay together usualy, but want lots of points, will maybe play in a squad to get those points, the first step to a good player. I'm NOT talking about already good players that still want points and i'm not saying EVERYONE will be "forced" to play in a squad because of that point stuff. But for a few players it may work.
And yes, for many its the thing that stops them from killing (too many) civs, because they fear being kicked for bad score or just dont want negative score. Again, some dont care, sometimes you have to shoot, sometimes you shoot on accident, and some people you never shoot civs even if they dont care about score.
But for a few people it works, and thats what its for. The ones that dont care about points can ignore it, so i dont think its a bad thing.

Persenaly I dont care about score much or even if you lose or win a round.
Yes it's can be cool to see youre squad in first position on a score board and get the enemy main base.
Most important for me is a gameplay it self. In what kinde of squad you play, is it a teamwork or just a bunch of lone wolfs.

Don't know about fascination but, ranks could be usefull to recognize more experienced players from less experience players.BeerHunter wrote:Just wondering what the fascination is with stats, scores and virtual ranks.
RANGERS LEAD THE WAY!!!
Do not post stupid suggestions just because you had a bad round in PR
