It is a shame because you guys have some of the best troops in the world.Peter-SAS wrote:its a common pattern of british life at the moment. The MoD are a bunch of clowns who couldn't give an arse about the welfare of our troops. Just balancing the books, and they can't even do that.

The only bullpub I like...That is functional in full auto as well as semi is the AUG, it is a great gun. Though I am not a fan of the bullpub design. I much prefer the HK, Colt, and IMI product lines. I have only had one malfunction with my M4 carbine, and that was when I unloaded a beta c-mag through it on full auto. I melted my extractor spring.... other than that no problems. I have never had a malfunction with any HK's or IMI weapons. The one thing I do like about the SA80 family is the SUSAT, But there are optics just as good or better for sale that can be mounted on your weapon of choice. I would never use a SA80 lsw as a sniper rifle.... Why use that piece of ****, when you can use the AI L96a1.
I'd use an L98-A1

I love the SA80 A2.
I found out it was a excellant rifle after a bashing it got after a regimental exercise. There was 20,000 blank rounds left over in sandbags which the regiment wanted rid of. I was 1 of 12 guys (and our SA80 A2's) 'dicked' to get rid of them. We was given 8 mags a piece and approx 1600 rounds. We had to 're-bomb' the mags after we'd shot them off. So with my SA80 set to Automatic i worked thru my rounds doing 3-5 round bursts, and once in a while I'd let of a full mag (boredem :twisted
.
For guys not privilaged to be in the armed forces, blank rounds are very 'dirty'. The amount of carbon deposited on a rifle from just 30 rounds is 4x as much as live or 'Ball' ammunition.
With 1600 rounds to get thru in 2/3 hours I expected a bucket load of stoppages, to my suprise I had 5..................5 stoppages. 2 been misfires, 1 been ill fitted mag (my fault), 1 gas stoppage (after 950 rounds; I switch to excessive on gas plug) and a 'Jam' somewhere near the end.
After firing and cleaning, I had to have the gas piston spring replaced as 5mm of it at one end, had been completely compressed together. However it still would have be operational if it hadn't have got changed.
Now if you ain't impressed by that, then I don't know what will impress you.

1600 rounds with no malfunctions..... If you would like you can fly to arizona and I will take you to my gun club and let you shoot numerous guns that are capable of doing this. Another thing that would impress me would be a firearm in sevice which did not exhibit the flaws I mentioned in an earlier post.
