2 Man bomber jet/plane
Ok all.
This is just an idea I had on my why home. So I was wondering why we have not seen a 2 man bomber like the F15 or the SU-34 from BF2v. Then I was thinking on what map could it be used. So I have come up with this idea. This is based on Kashan Desert. But It might be better to make a new version of the map so that player can still use the A10/SU-25 on "Kashan Desert 64". Call it "Kashan Desert - Day 2"
Now here is what I think would be good. Remove the 2 A10/SU-25's and remove 1 fighter jet from the map. Then add one F15 and SU-34. Now. here is what got me thinking. How will the Bomber jets work? Well why not use the same systems that is now used on the Attack HELOs? The Pilot fly's and can used the normal air to air missiles on OP4 aircraft. But he can not drop/fire bombs at ground targets. But can still have the bomb markers so as to make life easer for him to line up his co-pilot. Now the co-pilot has the same weapons systems like the attack HELOs. This way, The co-pilot/bomadere can fire at targets that have been lazed/SOFLAM'ed or if he has time. Can use the system that lets him guide the bomb. Just like the attack HELOs. I Know that with the speed of the jets, The guided bombs will be hard to use. But you are in a jet. Not much is going to kill you if your pilot is any good. Better to have that hiding SPEC-OPs guy SOFLAM that tank for you. I Think that the team work needed for this will be super.
Also make the spawn timer of the jets only 15 minutes instead of 20.
Now as far as I know. There is no 2 man bombers in PR. I Don't think they have been made/coded yet. But I think it would be cool to see some.
This is just an idea from the top of my head. So don't kill me for it.

I like the 2 man idea alittle. The A-10 and Frogfoot serve a great role of CAS. I dont think they need to change it. And for the laser a officer can mark targets from range and the A-Helo can take them out(Or A-10)
No! The reason I say no is because in reality after a plan dies it does not come back in lets say 15 hours. In reality it may take 20 hours for a plane to reach the deployment area, get armed, fueled and on runway. Also make the spawn timer of the jets only 15 minutes instead of 20

The 2 man idea would be great. pretty much everything else needs 2 or more ppl, y not planes?
Id love to play that position too.
As a lil addition, the co-pilot should be able to look at the back of the plane so he can inform his pilot of incoming rockets or checkout, if the bomb hit.
Or whatevr. Just add cool features, that make teamplay fun and necesary.

It is a cool idea, and I'm sure people would want to do it, it's just that this would then mean you MUST have 2 pilots in the plane. That means for every plane in the air, you would have 2 less infantrymen/tankers. Planes basically are unseen except for the CAS planes, and occasionally if they come in for a strafing run. But other than that they basically hang out up in the clouds, which means they are mostly disconnected from the game. I don't think removing more players from combat is a good idea.
As far as spawn time goes, it's really up to the map. Spawn time, as long as it is balanced, really doesn't matter.

Look at my post. In fact My plan would add 1 player to the ground. Not take him away. "Kashan Desert 64" has 4 jets per team. That's 4 players in the sky (if all is going to plan). With my plan. You have only 3 players in the sky. 1 player in a fighter. And 2 in the bomber.
Remeber. I am not saying change "Kashan Desert 64". I Am suggesting and new version of "Kashan Desert 64" and calling it "Kashan Desert - Day 2" This way nobody can complain about no A10/SU-25's" Or even a whole new map all together. Hell I don't care what map it was on.

Huuum. No. They deploy enought aircrafts (land based, Carrier based ) They dont need to call backup when they lose one lol.

I dont like that argument... you have to remember in real life planes dont fly alone they allways have one wingman and even a 2 man team usually doesnt fly without like atleast 3 more planes if you dont count f-117 night strikes. so i think the spawntime for planes should be reduced.LtSoucy wrote:No! Well if you look at the other factions aircraft already in BF2 it's pretty obvious what aircraft they are going to make for the Brits next.
American fighter/bomber: F-35 (single seat)
American figher: F-18 (single seat)
American bomber: F-15 (two seat)
Now the chinese only have one jet, and the MEC have two, so they don't really fit, but there's probably going to be some maps with a British aircraft carrier. So theirs will look like this.
UK Fighter/bomber: Harrier GR9 (single seat)
UK Figher: Eurofighter Typhoon (single seat)
UK Bomber: Tornado GR4 (two seat)
Now I'm just speculating on the tornado, but it makes sense, and a big hint is that the lead developer has a picture of a Tornado GR4 in both his avatar and sig, so I wouldn't be atall surprised if they made one. I also think they will make a scout helicopter for the UK, now my bet would be on a Gazelle, but a Lynx is also possible. I'd take both if I could, but I doubt that will happen.

Even if this would happen, it would cause a bit of shortage on actual infantry in the battlefield. If we currently take a look at Kashan:
About 5 are actually flying
About 7 are waiting in the Airfields
About 12 are in Armour
About 10 are Infantry
If there is one more seat in a bomber, it would cause about 3 more guys in the Airfield - ****.

Looks like somebody did not read all the posts.
See. I Did think about it a little.Look at my post. In fact My plan would add 1 player to the ground. Not take him away. "Kashan Desert 64" has 4 jets per team. That is a **** argument. You will always have que for aircraft no matter how many jet/helos/super space ships you have on the map. Can't do nothing about it.brummy.uk wrote:But what you're saying is not true. It's not 2 people waiting for one helo, it's four. It's not 1 guy waiting for a plane, it's 2 or 3.

Yep, two-man jets for the win! I was going to suggest that some time ago, but I'm glad someone else likes this idea. My avatar says it all. I wouldn't mind being the co-pilot, as long as the other person would know how to fly, and most importantly, how to land.
Also, if devs are gonna make carrier-based jets without VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing), maybe they could implement a tailhook on aircrafts, which function in real life is to stop landing jets by catching one of the four cables on a carrier's deck. Of course, these cables would have to be done too. Just a thought...
