really our current system works like this tbh:

US:
Carrier Based Fighter Jet: F-18
Carrier Based Attack Jet: Harrier II (WIP)
Land Based Fighter Jet: F-16
Land Based Attack Jet: A-10

Brits:
Carrier Based Fighter Jet: F-35b JSF
Carrier Based Attack Jet: Harrier GR9
Land Based Fighter Jet: EF2000
Land Based Attack Jet: Harrier GR9

Would be nice to get the "Fighter Bomber" class jets in (the 2 seater jets like the F-15) but I wouldn't keep your hopes up.

Having an F-15E Strike Eagle would be nice, but honestly, another 2 seater would take away from people on the ground. Maybe in a 128man server?

PS- Can't wait to see the Harrier II!

HELLO???? Did you not read? My idea would in fact put one man back "ON" the ground. Not take him away.

Rhino. Can you see what my idea for the bomber weapons systems of the bombardier co-pilot is coming from? Would that not be a good place to start?

But a staple of PR is increasing teamwork. If you have two men working together in a plane you double the teamwork of the pilots, instead of them being lone wolves. It also allows the pilot to concentrate on flying, and the Weapon Systems Officer (co-pilot in non RAF terms) using guided ordance more effectively. They can worry about managing air strike requests and getting bombs on target, while the pilot worries about staying out of trouble and keeping the plane in the air. And cmon, who doesn't find the Tornado sexy?

And to those who say another pilot in the air is another soldier off the ground, I say this. If there are two people waiting for a plane to spawn, and hey presto, a two seater appears, are you going to wait for the next one just to fly yourself? Or will you jump in with your mate and rack up some kills?

Nuff said.

And another thing Rhino about the current aircraft setup, is that you have both F-35s and Harriers for the Brits. But we don't have F-35s yet, and they are replacing the Harriers, and Tornados, not working with them.

yawn... do you really think that we are that slow to have never considered this before?

PR is set a few years in the future, and the future is not 100% set in stone so we can say with the out brake of war, the harriers where kept on with the new F-35bs that have come into service if a stroyline really matters that much to you.

by any chance aer you the same oddsodz from Full contact war?

Any ways, i have longed to see these bombers in PR, i really think that they are great.

I think the tail hook idea is good in theory.....but in theory alone.
Can you just imagine the teamkill numbers alone from those that wander to far out onto the flightline and are either killed by take-off and landings....or the arrest cables? What about helos that land for rearming and repairs or that are picking up troops and arent properly "parked", and get clipped by a jet in motion?
I think its interesting...but the tk punishes would be to rampant.

And reduce the number of planes. So significantly less firepower, and one less pilot. Personally I think that the balance is pretty good right now, given the number of players that BF2 can support.

It's a good balanced idea to keep in mind. I wouldn't mind trading up my A-10 for flying shotgun in an F-15E once in a while either.

Definately some potential for 2-man Fighter/Bombers in the future. All we can do is wait.. and hope.

You're right, but doesn't that situation still apply in the game at the moment? Take Kashan Desert map for instance: there could be someone on the runway as a plane takes off or lands as well, resulting in some accidental teamkills, probably not as many as in a carrier, but it can still happen. A possible solution would be putting jets and helicopters in different sections of the carrier.
I only suggested this idea for realistic purposes, bearing in mind that this may not be in the devs' best interests or it may not even be possible with BF2 engine, but who knows? Only time will tell.

Oddsodz from what your posts are saying in this thread you want a "new" map for PR with this stuff. Just so you know the the chances of a mapper making a map just for planes when there already are some will never happen. And in my mind Brummy has the right idea. On a 64 player kashan server you have up to 15 people at airfield looking around waiting.(size:32) Now once a A-helo spawns they run get in and fly off and get killed. The chances of 2 men getting in a plane togather is the same thing. a solo will take in and not use it right and end up getting it killed.

Yes. I Think I did say

A New version of Kashan 64. Call it "Kashan - Day 2"

And I think you have no faith in players. Not everybody is a noob. And not everybody sits at the airfield waiting.

No...not everyone.
But you are in outright denial if you say its not an issue.
I think some of this could be solved by a simple timer.

Once you spawn at the main base...you have a certain amount of time to be a certain distance away from the main base before you start taking damage.

In my book...waiting out half of the round for a jet or helo at the main base is just as bad as desertion and going out of bounds.
What good are you doing for not just your team, but the entire game itself, by spending 20 minutes waiting on a jet that you most likely just got shot out of, crashed, or blew up in on take-off?

This would also allow other players a chance to get a turn in an aircraft.
When I spawn at the main, maybe a jet will be there.....maybe it wont be.
If its there.....I request my pilot kit and I get in.
If its NOT there....I had best get some other transportation or start humping it out on foot to an objective!

This would encourage team-play a little more and keep teams pushing out from the base to win the round. Which is what the game is about.

maybe not JUST implement this with only the F-15 why not extend it to the F/A-18 along with the F-15 (been wanting both of those to make a return.
