Night maps
I don't understand why there is only 1 night map. We need some sort of variety on those.
Ba Ming is a great map. It's fun, it takes real awareness to play that stuff and you can set off some crazy ambushes on people.
But the great thing would be map with a nice sized area on it that is urban but also requires wearing your NVG's.

This one needs a revive
No one liked Bi ming A. Because for half the people it used to crash and B. for those who could get on theres a lot of green, walking and a game of ping pong between flags.
How diffidult is it to turn the lights off on some maps? Stupid question I know.
I've been thinking after a few rounds of Zatar and Kashan that these two would be aweeesome with more twilighty lighting.
If we could have the lights off on kashan it should change the whole deal, You'll be able to sneak over the desert and fight under cover.
The night vision definately needs a tweak along with the style of "night" so we can have a balance of when it may be useful to take off the NVGs (lit up bunkers? street lights in basrah etc?)
BFracers had car lights so why not have those switchable in cars on Basrah?
Whether folk like it or not, night time is REAL! lol dont be so afraid of the dark.
Whilest on Zatar we and others far away were being strafed by L'birds and we were fighting back with AA. The skys would have looked epic had it of been a lil darker.
Oh please just some more pretty dark dusky sort of maps... The only one we have is so dark you can't see your hand in front of your face, Of course no one likes it
LiveLeak.com - US Marines blowing up an IED late at night
Just focus more on the lighting
Imagine THAT being Kashan!!!! you could see the AA tracers and the smoke and the planes in the air but you can move silently ohhhhh itd be great...
lights around the bunkers, Is there a way they could be switched? so you can turn them on if the enemy is inside?
Sorry I'm over excited but I'd love some more atmospheric nightimes
How about turning the lights on with Bi Ming? I always thought that'd be better during the day.... Night maps would be better in urban situations and desert though imo
Edit: this whole "night maps are too l33t!!" BS is getting tiresome... Wtf do you people do? Turn the lights off at night and shout "I'M L33T BECAUSE IT'S DARK!!!"

Night version of Kashan with current view distance would lag like hell. Lower the view distance and you won't see the planes and all of the eye candy that a night battle can offer.
And remember night maps are cool/1337/whatever on paper but in practice you'll most likely get a very different picture.

Night maps kick all kinds of arse.
Bi Ming is a fantastic map. Its close in, fast brutal fighting where getting the drop on the enemy is even more of an advantage than on day maps as such they require much more awareness and generally not making stupid mistakes than day maps. You accidentally yell out something with voice commands, odds on someones heard you and is sneaking up on your position. Because thats another thing, its quiet. There isn't the constant cackle of machine guns and bass of grenade blasts. Because people are actually manuvering and thinking rather than blasting away at each other continually.
And of course I've got fond memories of maps like Mashturr Night from back in 0.3.
Mashturr City, 03:00,
A Chevy suburban rolls through the streets the the evac point. Humvees in front and behind. Above, little birds keep a watchful eye over the swift moving convoy. They round a bend. Vodnick. An eyrx missile streaks up from an alley, blowing one of the birds out of the sky...

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.
Many thanks to [R-DEV]Adriaan for the sig!

Thats Why I was thinking these sort where its dark on the ground but light in the sky... you wouldnt need so much shadowing etc on all the ground objects... maybe a mountain top in kashan could be hit by the light? thatd make it look ma-hoo-siveSabre_tooth_tigger wrote:Dusk or dawn maybe but bf2 lacks hdr so maybe not tbh

A. It no longer crashesSadist_Cain wrote:No one liked Bi ming A. Because for half the people it used to crash and B. for those who could get on theres a lot of green, walking and a game of ping pong between flags.
B. Its now AASv1 so its no longer 'ping pong'.
C. Yeah, NVG's do tend to mean a bit of green...
Now go and make an amazing nightmap, and get back to me when its nearly finished and ready to be included in PR

Kashan is a day map, as I've said time and again before, you want a night map it has to be designed as one, as we will not have 2 versions (day/night) of the same map in any PR release.
Night maps are hard to make because of the engines major limitations. You want one, you'll have to make it yourself (i.e. someone in the community has to make it), because I very much doubt any DEV is gonna put 6-8months work into a making one.

It's called a zip line! and they're l33t.Heskey wrote:I would like to see more night maps based on spec-op style infiltration.
And now I'm not talking:
1.) Grappling hooks
2.) Spec Ops kits
3.) Paragliding thingies...
I'm talking night maps involving a lot of in-door buildings.
I'd so make a night map...but I was learning bf2 modding, and then PR .7 came out...so yeah...
