Maps that DO NOT fit with this mod!

Post by Malum »

Maps you think are NOT good with this mod, and should be taken OUT of rotation of a server running this mod???

Turn we nees steel_thunder in .3 Also more open maps. Im sick of urban you live for like 5 mins in urban. Open maps leave more room for planing and flanking. Steel_thunder is the number 1 map for Pr as of now for me

Tactics are way better in urban maps. In the open maps, it's just like: go here. Go there. Attack in a monotonous manner. Get raped by tank.

The only maps that shouldn't get taken out of the rotations are Mashtuur, Karkand, Oman, and all the custom maps except for Heli Wars

Get of most of the vanilla maps:

FuShee Pass - Hate it, with a passion
Sharqi Penninsula - meh
Operation Clean Sweep - natta
Daquing Oilfields - Laggy Vehicle spamming

Vanilla maps worth keeping:

Karkand - Obviously, always had the right stuff
Songhua - Actually an ok map with the right people
Gulf of Oman - Good mix of play, fun with right people
Zatar Wetlands - Nice map, cp's are close enough for infantry play

Out of the Customs:

So far I like steel thunder, karkand 2, and El Alemin (spelling I know)

Would like to see a map like steel thunder without the armor and with it all forest kinda uphill. Would make for some challenging squad play.

JMO

Keep steel_thunder dude it owns. Try playing it 16 size maps with no tanks.

Vanilla Maps that I like:

Mashtuur
Karkand
Gulf of Oman
Zatar Wetlands (vehicle spawning needs tweaking)

Map Pack 1 Maps that I like:

Steel Thunder (16 Player, the other version lags too much)
The Oasis (needs some work though)
Jungle Fever (good for a very small amount of players, like deathmatch 1v1 or 2v2)

Maps that i think are HORRID:

Operation Cleansweep
Daqing Oil Fields
Kubra Damn (16 player is not THAT bad, but still below mediocre)
Dragon Valley
El Alamein XXL (unless vehicle spawns are tweaked)
Heli Wars

Maps like this: http://www.totalbf2.com/images.php?img= ... s/Zhy2.jpg would go really well with Project Reality. Of course Add in Villages and Urban areas as well.

cant agree more.. Heli wars is a joke..
ofc i dont like jungle fever maby if they could fix the terrain some and not have so much effects on it so we with 1-2 year old computers can play with some what...

I love 16 player cap maps because Vehicle battles are horrible and boring. I hate that Heli map and huge freaking maps that take for ever just to get from point A to point B because your stupid teammates forget to pick you up.

That is a flaw in the vehicle design, not the "huge freaking maps". There should always be a backup light vehicle around (ie jeeps). But for some reason in BF2 there are always more APCs, tanks and helos than jeeps.

Love:
El Al (when playing without planes)
Mashtuur
Road to... (nikov's map)
Oasis
Steel Thunder

Like:
Zatar
The Karkands
CP Abaden(sp?)

Can deal with:
HeliWar
Oman

Hate: Pretty much everything else, especially Jungle Fever.

Some of the stock maps don't realy work well with the AAS system. Usually its always the same side who wins. A good example is the US vs MEC in the Kubra dam map on which the MEC always win. Most, if not all of the stock maps need tweaking in order to make them more AAS compatible.

Prettymuch what everybody else said-- most 64 player maps suck, with the exception of *no vehicles* Karkand and Mashtuur. Kubra Dam, FuShe Pass, etc, suck, especially on 64 players (both are actually decent on 16 player setting).

Same goes with Zatar Wetlands-- WONDERFUL (one of the best) maps on 16 player settings (3 bases, yet still a decent sized maps, excellent firefights), but anything above that that includes vehicles really makes the map suck.

Vehicles (excluding cars and humvees/vodniks) should either:

-Belong in a vehicle map (ie Thunder or El Alamein)
-Be extremely limited and be an extreme asset to infantry

Couldn't agree more.

Road to Kyogon'Ni 1.3 has vehicles that have 2 minute and 3 minute spawn times, this way they are actually an asset. I would like to see more maps designed like this.

Then there can always be the big vehicle maps, I have no problem with these maps, they can actually be quite fun if balanced correctly (ie: Steel Thunder).

I totally agree. I will concede that wetlands is decent ONLY on the 16player setting.

I REALLY miss the custom maps.
